★★★★★ #update May 2021: after the 3rd online game in the row that got stuck with no way to continue, I'm lowering my review to 2 stars..
★★★★★ Don't care how great a digital adaptation of the physical game this, and actually it is rather good, but lack of an undo button in any digital board game is nothing short of negligence from the developers and…
★★★★★ OK, lowered my score due to another HUGE problem -- the lack of an "Undo" button after you perform an action but before any dice are rolled/cards revealed, etc.

★★★★★ Getting back into async game takes forever and half the time it crashes.
★★★★★ It is SO painful to wait for the AI to play. Especially early in a game where you have little to do and the AI then goes on and on and on and on playing its moves. I have an iPad Pro so speed is not the issue. Many…

  • The tutorials are excellent, but could maybe add a little bit more of the nuance from the law of root. 5★, Dec 26, 2024
  • I like the factions they were actually in there and they are based on the actual board game, but I was still wondering when are you gonna add the other new factions they were already released? 5★, Dec 17, 2024

can’t get this game going bc my group is mostly new to root! someone will make a mistake and then be unable to change it or tap the continue button an extra time on accident etc. they just lose all the motivation to play because their game while maybe not over is fairly damaged over a simple whoopsie

Great adaptation of an incredible game

Beautiful adaptation of my favorite board game. Over 100 games in and going strong

★★★★★Oct 14, 2026
Poor solo play experience

The AI in this game is pretty bad. The AI players make no attempt to slow down the leader so once one player pulls slightly ahead it’s pretty much over.

Store description

Play the digital adaptation of the beloved tabletop board game. Root is a game of adventure and war where 2 to 4 players battle for control of a vast wilderness. The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great woodland, intent on harvesting its riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have banded together. This Alliance will seek to strengthen its resources and subvert the rule of Cats. In this effort, the Alliance may enlist the help of the wandering Vagabonds who are able to move through the more dangerous woodland paths. Though some may sympathize with the Alliance’s hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey who once controlled the woods. Meanwhile, at the edge of the region, the proud, squabbling Eyrie have found a new commander who they hope will lead their faction to resume their ancient birthright. The stage is set for a contest that will decide the fate of the great woodland. It is up to the players to decide which group will ultimately take root.
