★★★★★ Proton drive didn't sync my files, it deleted them from my laptop.
★★★★★ Photo backup never quite works 100% (so, it's a failure there), and UI for it is less than robust or intuitive.

★★★★★ btw, thebapp has no contact support or thing.
★★★★★ I hate to leave a negative review because I support the privacy focus of this vendor, however, this app is garbage.

★★★★★ it's a good app but don't bother signing up for any package unless you can afford the full yearly amount at that time, which i couldn't hence selecting to pay monthly.im now paying overdraft fees on this unauthorised…
★★★★★ instead of letting me create an account on my own or use the account I already created on pc this app has a new account made and ready to go with data pulled from discord or steam, a gross over-reach.
★★★★★ Not clear shared folders require a Proton account to view, huge waste of time I had to replicate on another service.
Missing features7%

Wrong or poor results4%

8 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ The response from support is boilerplate and useless.
★★★★★ Drive is practically useless on mobile devices, and Photos is even worse - can't download multiple at once, large drive uploads hang up - password sharing is broken on Proton Pass, you can't create a link in Proton Mai…
★★★★★ Organisation of files is useless (better off doing this using Windows Explorer on your PC, than attempting anything in this app).
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • I wish it had some better functionality (downloading multiple items, sync, options to overwrite/replace same named items, upload large items without interruption /failure, etc...), but it's good for saving files 4★, Oct 17, 2026
  • I just wish you add a search feature so that people can search and find the folders they are looking for with a little bit faster 5★, Oct 16, 2026
  • Every time I need a file it is simply not there. 1★, Oct 15, 2026
  • Please make a fix for this! 1★, Oct 14, 2026
  • wow I should have seen the reviews before buying this app. 1★, Oct 12, 2026
  • I need a refund on this app. 1★, Oct 12, 2026
  • it would be nice to be able to sync the photos rather than just have them static. 4★, Oct 7, 2026
  • you need to add a full media player that can be played in the background and you also need to add a search bar so you can search within folders or you can search your entire Drive. 3★, Oct 4, 2026

Looks great4%

9 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ This is beautiful, no computer or desktop.
★★★★★ The end-to-end encryption makes me feel much more comfortable storing personal files, while the interface stays clean and easy to use.
★★★★★ after got falsely flagged by Google Drive, I'm happy that I found Proton Drive, I can put any file as l like without worrying it might angering Google because they need "clean" files on the cloud to train Gemini.
Worth the money4%

9 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ The free storage is 5gb but it's more acceptable as it allows high privacy for any saved password or legal documents.
★★★★★ I'd like more free space, thank you.
★★★★★ you can make the feature free to lock 2 3, folders but premium to lock 4+ folders .
Fast3%

8 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ The app performance is poor (folders and files take a long time to load on a fast connection) and the app crashes when browsing or selecting too many items.
★★★★★ The UI is pretty, the app has fast upload speeds with End-to-End encryption.
★★★★★ Love it, it's just that files don't load that fast, and backing up doesn't seem to be like on google drive.

Look. Google reading everything and generally being invasive sucks. This is simple. You pay them money, they encrypt your stuff and store them.

★★★★★Oct 20, 2026

★★★★★Oct 20, 2026

very good 😊👍

★★★★★Oct 19, 2026

not sure what was happening, but over time, about 100gb of storage was just taken up by Casper the friendly storage hog with no clear way to get it back. I contacted support, and will see if they can help me resolve this problem.

★★★★★Oct 19, 2026

I signed up for the 500gb monthly package priced at £7.99 a month which i thought to be rather reasonable. HOWEVER,upon checking my bank,I was actually charged the full yearly amount at £95!!! it's a good app but don't bother signing up for any package unless you can afford the full yearly amount at that time, which i couldn't hence selecting to pay monthly.im now paying overdraft fees on this unauthorised deduction from my account. not impressed at all

★★★★★Oct 19, 2026

Docs often fail to sync so you lose work if that connection goes stale. can't create spreadsheets in the app but opening ones created on desktop works for reading. performance issues with video files. I want to support a European and privacy-conscious company but there's a lot of room for improvement. Docs print nicely but no intentional page breaks. lots of annoying prompts to upgrade to premium—waiting for it to be worth paying for (feature parity with google drive, dark mode).
