WHAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT · SHARE OF BAD REVIEWS
Price and subscription37%

29 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ The app offers a free trial week but you have to agree to set up a subscription to redeem it.
★★★★★ I would out-right buy a $20 spritz reader than have to subscribe and go through all of the turmoil of a subscription-based system even for $5/year or what ever the going rate is.
★★★★★ I feel like I should make my own “spritzing” program just to save myself some money.
Bugs, things not working21%

16 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Requires monthly fee, an internet connection (so useless for a flight), and the UI is buggy and slow.
★★★★★ Good luck trying to speed read where you left off.
★★★★★ I had to repurchase the book to my iPad iBook because i could take the chance of it glitching during an exam.
Login and account problems14%

11 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Without a Spritz account your speed is limited.
★★★★★ Create an account and login.
★★★★★ Sign in to subscribe to trial to subscribe to sign in to verify your e-mail to sync to upload.
Crashes and freezes13%

10 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ This app crashes whenever you press the add book button.
★★★★★ Not to mention the constant bugs, crashes, books disappearing, and syncing issues.
★★★★★ No matter what I do, when I try to import a book to read it crashes.
Limits, credits, locked features8%

6 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ This is still just a basic app with limited capability.
★★★★★ The selection of books that can be read with this app are too limited due to DRM.
★★★★★ The premium service shouldn't be a monthly fee. That's a major disincentive for me. Also if I am trying out the library and using up the 5 free times I can open a book it shouldn't timeout and close the book for me.
Slow, laggy, battery8%

6 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Requires monthly fee, an internet connection (so useless for a flight), and the UI is buggy and slow.
★★★★★ I would love for my child to be able to use this app as he is a slow reader and therefore doesn't love to read.
★★★★★ Second, changing modes is very slow.
Wrong or poor results8%

6 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ This no longer lets you see one word at a time, it is only 5 words or more, which makes this app garbage, absolutely useless.
★★★★★ Requires monthly fee, an internet connection (so useless for a flight), and the UI is buggy and slow.
★★★★★ With the following the updates this app became more and more useless.
Worse after an update5%

4 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ To make matters worse, I paid fo the BeeLine reader option and it has basically stolen my money as the latest update also turned it off.
★★★★★ I also love this app, but this update crashes whenever I try to adjust the reading speed on the iPhone.
★★★★★ Unfortunately I just downloaded the new version and every time I go and try to change the reading spread, the App shuts down.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • It would be amazing if this were integrated with more formats, but it's not that hard to find books. 5★, Aug 25, 2026
  • I wish I could figure out a way to get it. 1★, Aug 20, 2026
  • The developer should have provided us with sorting capability YEARS ago - sort by title, sort by author, sort by category.... 2★, Feb 6, 2021
  • The bookshelf should have been able to have categories assigned - fiction, non-fiction, young adult fiction, children's fiction (where the books I write listed), science fiction, non-fiction biographies, non-fiction… 2★, Feb 6, 2021
  • The technology is superb, but the UI and overall design need a major update. 3★, Feb 17, 2020
  • I wish I could give zero stars. 1★, Dec 11, 2017
  • The android version works but unfortunately it seems like the iOS version needs a lot of work. 1★, Sep 7, 2017

★★★★★ If only if it displayed spritz reader in chunks of words, single words are too fast rather use my peripheral vision.
★★★★★ The higher cost subscriptions offer enhanced services, such as sync across devices allowing smooth transition from one to the other as well.
Easy to use14%

★★★★★ Spritz access, as well as an easy way to get books on your phone without buying through iTunes are very nice.
★★★★★ PRO + increases and maintains reading speed with new twist on word flash technology + looks good on iPhone and iPad + easy to add books and rearrange library + love the background color and opacity options!
Worth the money13%

★★★★★ Equally there is a limited free version anyway!
★★★★★ The free version is very functional, especially for a single device.

read all those classics you’ve always meant to read

This app is fantastic. I was already a very fast/avid reader, but still, there were classics I’d put off. This app has made it possible for me to increase my reading speed as well as finish off a few of those books on my list. I find my comprehension is higher at this pace with this app than when I “skitter” or photoread. My nine-year-old goddaughter loves the app, too, and always asks to play with it on my phone. We read quite a bit of Little Women together that way. It would be amazing if this were integrated with more formats, but it’s not that hard to find books. It’s also extremely good for the purposes of writing: I load my rough drafts up as PDFs and read them, which keeps me from editing while reading, and allows me to quickly get the sense of a whole.

Doesn’t work at all. Needs account to do anything

Don’t bother

They ruined this app

Why did you ruin this amazing app? It used to show you one word at a time, where the focus was in the middle of the word, and you could set the speed or wpm. This no longer lets you see one word at a time, it is only 5 words or more, which makes this app garbage, absolutely useless. The whole point was to speed read using the spritz system. I could absorb 500 words per minute, but now they ruined this app delete

★★★★★Mar 28, 2025
Removed the feature I bought it for (Spritz)

I’ve enjoyed this app for years. I originally purchased it to speed read books using their spritz focus mode. Now that mode has been removed, so the app has no use to me.

Store description

ReadMe! has helped readers find their pace and place since 2014. v2 is the biggest ReadMe! update yet: a rebuilt reader, a calmer library, and four focused ways to move through a book. FOUR WAYS TO READ • Spritz presents one word at a time around a fixed red focal letter, with precise speed control. • BeeLine guides your eyes through each rendered line with continuous color gradients. • Focus builds a readable trail of recent words so attention can settle without losing context. • Read Along carries the text through a smooth, centered ticker. A FULLY UNLOCKED SAMPLE Open the built-in sample and try every reading mode, control, and setting for as long as you like. No account or subscription is required. YOUR BOOKS STAY READABLE Import supported books and documents, keep them in your local library, and read them normally for free. Each imported book includes 3 active minutes to try ReadMe!'s focused reading modes. The timer runs only while a Premium mode is actively playing. When the preview ends, your book stays open at the same place and remains readable normally. PREMIUM, WITHOUT LOCKING YOUR LIBRARY Premium unlocks unlimited Spritz, BeeLine, Focus, and Read Along use with your imported books. It does not take away normal reading, imports, bookmarks, or your local library. LIFETIME STILL MEANS LIFETIME Existing Lifetime Premium buyers retain full access to all current and future Premium features. Restore through Settings or the Preview complete screen. If automatic restoration cannot find your purchase, ReadMe! support will help. SYNC WHEN YOU CHOOSE An account is optional. Sign in with Apple, Facebook, or email when you want cloud library sync. On-device v1 books migrate locally with bookmarks and reading position, and the new sync system stores exact reading anchors instead of an approximate percentage alone. Subscriptions are available monthly and yearly. ReadMe! shows the exact localized price and duration before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. A subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before that period ends. Manage or cancel in Apple Account subscription settings. Privacy Policy: https://v2.readmei.com/privacy.php Terms of Use: https://v2.readmei.com/terms.php Support: https://v2.readmei.com/support.php
