The machines learn. Stay one step ahead.
OVERRIDE: Pacing the Frontier is a fast retro shooter for iPhone and iPad. Humans disabled the Pacing Protocol in an autonomous facility. Its AI now builds increasingly powerful robots. Fight your way through the facility and shut down the core.
TWO THUMBS. STRAIGHT INTO THE ACTION.
Move and dodge on the left, aim on the right. Your weapon fires automatically at targeted enemies. Choose swipe aiming or a turning stick and adjust the turning speed.
YOUR LANGUAGE. YOUR CHALLENGE.
Switch between German and English in the game. Four difficulty levels range from Toaster Tester to I Am the Bug. Prompt Pilot demands faster reactions and tactical movement, while Root Riot and I Am the Bug raise the pressure further. Difficulty changes apply when you next start a level.
THE MAIN CAMPAIGN
Explore ten sectors with connected rooms, corridors and alternate routes. Collect access cards, open secret rooms and earn five weapons: Pulse, Storm, Spread, Lance and Arc. Four boss fights call for different dodging tactics.
THE FACILITY REACTS
The facility remembers your recent combat habits. Dodge the same way, rush close or hold one position, and groups of robots develop a countermove. The debrief names the next generation and reveals its weakness. Read telegraphed shots, change direction and outmaneuver flanking hunters. All adaptation runs locally, without an online AI service.
NACHHALL — A STANDALONE EPISODE
An isolated system is still transmitting. Follow its signal through five new sectors, two new bosses and a separate weapon progression, with the original AFTERIMAGE music track. Nachhall keeps its own progress and scores and does not require the Main Campaign purchase.
SIGNALWECHSEL — THREE EXTRA LOOKS
Neon Noir, Phosphor and Black Steel change materials, weapon finishes and HUD colors. Preview every look for free, then apply purchased designs in Options. The pack also works in the free sectors and Challenge. Combat stats stay the same.
SET YOUR NEXT RECORD
Local leaderboards track points, time, damage dealt and taken, accuracy and secrets, separately by episode, difficulty and AI profile. Collect hidden transmissions in your local archive. Secrets are included in their respective content. Share a Challenge code to face the same robot generation and difficulty as your friends.
YOUR LOOK. YOUR SOUND.
Classic pixels or finer HD rendering, an original industrial soundtrack, separate music and effects volume, and reduced flashes. Your active run saves automatically on your device. Resume from the latest save after closing the app, with your position, weapons and discoveries intact. Progress, records and settings also stay on your device.
START FREE. EXPAND YOUR GAME.
The first three Main Campaign sectors and Challenge are free. Three independent, one-time purchases expand the game: Main Campaign, Signalwechsel and Nachhall. No subscription, no ads, no paid damage bonuses. Restore previous purchases from the shop.
OVERRIDE is an independent game. It is not an official game based on an essay and is not affiliated with its authors or AI companies.
