HOW SURE ARE WE
Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (3.2 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.6 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

Price and subscription100%

6 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Good app — but not updated recently and then took free features away behind a pay wall.
★★★★★ After taking my money this app stopped connecting and broke.
★★★★★ Putting features of the FREE open-source server version behind a paywall on the mobile app is diabolical.
Limits, credits, locked features33%

2 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ But this guy just had to make pretty much every feature locked behind a paywall….
★★★★★ However it was sad to see some basic functionality was locked behind a subscription of all things.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • Shopping list UI needs a little love, but overall the app and the purchase are definitely worth it! 4★, Apr 24, 2026
  • With the latest update to Mealie supporting Video imports like YouTube and Instagram, it would be nice to see some feedback back when importing urls. 5★, Mar 25, 2026
  • It would be great to send in some feedback and possible features. 5★, Mar 25, 2026
  • The only thing I can think of that I still need a solution for is grabbing recipes out of Instagram or TikTok videos. 5★, Sep 15, 2025
  • Wish there was a little more documentation on setting things up. 3★, Jul 25, 2025
  • The Meal Plan is a neat idea but I'd also love to see a way to add a recipe to a meal plan from the recipe itself. 4★, Jul 9, 2025
  • Save your money for some kitchen gadgets and just add the PWA to your Home Screen (please google PWA if you don't understand and prepare to have your mind blown and money saved) 1★, Jun 25, 2025

★★★★★ Great UI, family sharing the purchase isn't working for me.
★★★★★ As a home lab enthusiast Mealie was a beautiful solution, and this app complementing the mobile experience (where it matters most in the kitchen) is fantastic.
Accurate, great results13%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Works great for my use case.
★★★★★ Love the app because it 1) works great and 2) allows family sharing for a small ONE-TIME price.
Great support13%

★★★★★ Unsure of how to get support.
★★★★★ My recipes are written with markdown and some html which is supported on the web app, but needs support in the app

Excellent, just missing some pieces

Great UI, family sharing the purchase isn’t working for me. Unsure of how to get support. Shopping list UI needs a little love, but overall the app and the purchase are definitely worth it!

Paywalled previously free features

Good app — but not updated recently and then took free features away behind a pay wall. Bought them but you’ll get one star for the effort of the bait and switch

The best!

This is the best mealie app I have tried. It is missing a feature or two but the developer was very responsive to feedback. Looking forward to the continued development

App is Great

I am glad that this app brings more native feel than it does on the browser and does almost everything I need when using on mobile and if not I can always hop over to the browser. With the latest update to Mealie supporting Video imports like YouTube and Instagram, it would be nice to see some feedback back when importing urls. It shows some feedback in the website but these imports take longer and it’s hard to tell if it’s working or how long it’s taking when the screen is just still after hitting import. Is there a place to send in suggestions rather than in a review? It would be great to send in some feedback and possible features.

The app I wanted. The app I needed.

This is a rare treat. My wants and needs satisfied in the same product. As a former chef I cook by feel and whim more often than not, however there are some staple recipes I go back to over and over. By going to the same site, over and over. As a home lab enthusiast Mealie was a beautiful solution, and this app complementing the mobile experience (where it matters most in the kitchen) is fantastic. The one time licensing fee is incredibly fair, and the family sharing is awesome. Thank you for this app!

Won’t connect

No matter how I enter in the address to the front page the app WILL NOT connect to my server. I can access it just fine from any webpage by the port and login. After taking my money this app stopped connecting and broke. Just use your browser.

What's new in 1.9.6

- Nutrition facts: See calories, fat, carbs, protein and more on your recipes, and edit them right in the recipe editor. Turn on "Show Nutrition" in Preferences to get started. - Create from Images works with newer Mealie servers: Turn photos into recipes again on Mealie v3.23 and later. - More reliable photo imports: The app now waits longer for your server's AI to finish, and iPhone photos are converted to JPEG automatically.
