This app was wonderful when I bought it about a year ago. Noticed recently a spat of crashes while streaming and lag connecting to my NAS. Now I’ve seen the app has been sold to another company. The quality of app has def not improved. I cannot recommend this app in its current state unless stability improves. Thank you.
It was a great app maintained by an indie developer. New management has added an ugly splash screen, and eventually made it unusable.
Was good when it was a solo dev making something useful. Noticed the new ugly splash screen, AI slop marketing, and new AI company owners. Only a matter of time before this app gets ruined due to greed.
Recent updates have made this app nearly unusable for me. It used to be great but now accessing off-line mode when I have zero or very weak cellular signal is nearly impossible and extremely frustrating.
When using offline mode books will randomly skip forward various amounts of time which is infuriating when driving. Happens surprisingly often.
I really enjoyed using this app and working with the previous indie developer on problems and features. However, looking at the new devs they do a lot of AI slop apps and buy up other developers apps to add tracking and vibe code experiences. I fear the future of this app won’t be the same of being able to connect to our audio book shelf services. The developers who own this app have not shown interest with working with the team that handles the audio book shelf server. I would not recommend this app anymore under new management from this AI slop dev team.
