Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (14 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.6 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

★★★★★ After years of reporting sign in problems and lack of accessibility to the email address provided in the responses to reviews and nothing being fixed, I've finally cancelled my subscription.
★★★★★ I pay a fortune for a paper subscription to support the great reporters at the Herald.

★★★★★ It's a shame you can't use the app bc it crashes and your can't get more than a paragraph in.
★★★★★ It constantly crashes, forces you to login constantly, and it's a complicated scavenger hunt to find.
Worse after an update16%

41 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Update: I think we can all see the reason for the slaughter of the Herald's newsroom and it absolutely was not the fault of the fine journalists who just lost their jobs.
★★★★★ So now we can't use our iPads that do not have ios17 mind you my IPad is on the latest update that it's available for it 16.7.16.
★★★★★ The Miami Herald's app has always left something to be desired, but as of today this update is full of bugs and not worth installing.

★★★★★ The Miami Herald's app has always left something to be desired, but as of today this update is full of bugs and not worth installing.
★★★★★ Since 2009 years I enjoyed the Miami Herald. I don't even live in Miami. When they changed their app it wrecked access. Won't load. Can't see the sports I follow. It will cause me to cancel my subscription.
★★★★★ Just fix the thing, this is really a very basic error that should be easily corrected.

★★★★★ After years of reporting sign in problems and lack of accessibility to the email address provided in the responses to reviews and nothing being fixed, I've finally cancelled my subscription.
★★★★★ I pay a fortune for a paper subscription to support the great reporters at the Herald. You would think they would have an app that can remember my log on credentials for more than a few days. Unbelievable.
★★★★★ Login is insulting and worst by far of any of my subscriptions.
No customer support9%

22 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ It's disappointing, as I really want to support local journalism, but I can't justify the price when I can't even access the content after paying for it.
★★★★★ No dark mode support for a newspaper application in 2026 is crazy.
★★★★★ I pay a fortune for a paper subscription to support the great reporters at the Herald.
Too many ads6%

16 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Chock full of ads and jumping screens make articles almost unreadable .
★★★★★ I always use the “print” format but now in this new app, I can't “tap to read” articles in it anymore, which I realize is to force the ads down our throats but is a nuisance when I'm are forced to scroll forward then…
★★★★★ This stands out as one of the worst subscription apps ever. After paying for a yearly subscription, one is still subjected to ad after ad. This makes navigating the site difficult as well as annoying. I wish I could…

“Click-Bait” style headlines makes it feel cheap, unfriendly format

So-so as far as being current. Articles are repeated often across the few news categories. Limited customization as far as what article topics you are interested in. But the thing that makes it seem more like a fake news tabloid rather than a serious news source is it’s proliferation of “click-bait” style headlines, making it feel cheap and not to be taken seriously. Your grade school children might like that style though for their school assignments! No ability to customize the news categories you want vs. what they want you to see. No search capabilities. Regarding the most recent format for reading through the “newspaper” it’s not user friendly, definitely not intuitive, and impossible to scan through to find articles of interest. Can it get any worse? Sure, give their amateur programmers more time and they’ll make it a total click bait extravaganza.

One of the best newspapers in the USA.

I have been not only a lector, but a subscriber of the Miami Herald, and an “Opinion-Page-volunteer contributor” for many years. I have even learned some expressions that I have used when communicating with friends, and/or trying to get a job as a journalist. Thank you Miami Herald for keeping us informed.

Your app

You've taken away the ability to listen to the articles, you've also taken away the capability of copying certain sections of the articles. You literally have the worst app I've ever used. I buy your paper because I live in our city, but goddamnit you need to do better.

We need this newspaper

The recent Carol Marbin Miller story on long-term care abuses is a perfect illustration of the need for a vigorous daily paper. Every social service agency and government watchdog dropped the ball, but the Herald did the job.
