O Novo FIES foi instituído pela Lei nº 13.530 de 07 de dezembro de 2017, para concessão de financiamento à estudantes de cursos superiores, não gratuitos, e com avaliação positiva nos processos conduzidos pelo Ministério da Educação, custeados pelo Fundo de Financiamento Estudantil. A CAIXA atua no Novo FIES como agente único, responsável pelos papéis de Agente Operador, Agente Financeiro e Gestor de Fundos Garantidores. O Novo FIES possibilita juros zero a quem mais precisa e uma escala de financiamento que varia conforme a renda familiar do candidato.
