Bugs, things not working16%

30 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ This bug was in the app before, about two years ago, and it still persists.
★★★★★ The army builder is buggy, it crashes constantly, the ability to edit specific gear choices on any unit with multiple choices doesn't work at all, it defaults to all members of the unit having the same gear (crisis…
★★★★★ There are bugs I identified and reported back then that are still present today in August.
Worse after an update10%

19 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Another software update and still not functional.
★★★★★ They are also inconsistent on the pace which the app is updated for new rules often it is within a few days but for the balance data slate and the new season somehow Battlescribe has updated before their application…
★★★★★ There have been 3 codex releases and several FAQs since my app last updated.
Missing features8%

14 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ It is missing large chunks of the game, data sheet rules are generally out of date, armies of renown are missing with no way to add them even if you own the white dwarf.
★★★★★ Surely you think minor things like missing units or special characters not being available to successor chapters would be fixed by now, but nope.
★★★★★ Means I must use other sites, that have this rules without missing parts…

No customer support7%

13 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I contacted the support team about my codex not being available and going through all the steps they suggested for it still be locked.
★★★★★ Arks of omens drops, calls for specific boarding patrol detachment, two months later there is still no support for boarding Patrol detachments in Battle Forge.
★★★★★ The promised Narrative Play support is still vaporware.
Login and account problems7%

12 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ This app is very difficult to log in and out of.
★★★★★ If you choose to sign up for this app and don't like it, GW will *NOT* refund you, you'll be at the mercy of Apple.

★★★★★ I've also unlocked a 40K codex for use in this app, for it to always display the data in that codex as locked.
★★★★★ They are free online, but in the app I have to pay to see them.
★★★★★ Especially considering the vast majority of the content is locked behind paywalls.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • It would be nice if we could see datasheets for our whole army with the selected wargear like we can on BattleScribe, but it's great having access to the core rules and all of our owned codexes 3★, May 16, 2023
  • Qualms would be around semi-frequent crashing with certain actions during list building (say you add an Inquisitor to a chapter or are trying to choose wargear on a vet), nothing terrible, restart and remove. 4★, Oct 8, 2022
  • Please add crusade option please 3★, Aug 22, 2022
  • Wish there was a way to turn automatic rules updating off so that this thing was usable away from wifi. 1★, Jul 7, 2022
  • And I still can't build a list, every time I go to add a weapon to the neophyte leader the app crashes. 2★, Jul 6, 2022
  • Hi developers, could you add the ability to play with the army you build - what do I mean by this! 2★, Mar 10, 2022
  • -Not every option that units should have are always present. 2★, Mar 8, 2022
  • I wish this new network the best and I hope it's successful, but it's a pity that I'm not allowed to enjoy ir. 1★, Jan 6, 2022
WORDS THAT KEEP COMING UP IN BAD REVIEWS

Nothing stands out.

WHAT THEY LOVE · SHARE OF GOOD REVIEWS
Worth the money25%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Having it part of warhammer+ is worth it.
★★★★★ I realize that this app is still a work in progress but the $5 sub fee for the Warhammer+ experience is well worth it considering the physical books average around $30-$50+ each.

Locked data

I downloaded this app only for it to continue to always push for the subscription. I’ve also unlocked a 40K codex for use in this app, for it to always display the data in that codex as locked. I contacted the support team about my codex not being available and going through all the steps they suggested for it still be locked. In comparison The Age of Sigmar app shows my AoS codex perfectly fine.

No free Datasheets

The only reason I would want the app is so that I can quickly search the data sheets. They are free online, but in the app I have to pay to see them. No way I‘m buying a subscription just to get some free datasheets

Games Workshop Oopsie

One of the main reasons I recently started playing 40k is because of its physical presence. Hand painted models, rulers, dice, terrain, etc. all are best done being real objects. Why do the rules need to be so separate from everything else? Im confused why Games Workshop feels the need to make the rules digital... It's probably cheaper but I would prefer to pay more for a physical copy. If I wanted a digital game, I would play video games, not board games. There definitely could be a world were there are physical and digital rules. We live in the world with a stinky mobile app unfortunately.

Not bad but could be better

It would be nice if we could see datasheets for our whole army with the selected wargear like we can on BattleScribe, but it’s great having access to the core rules and all of our owned codexes Would also be nice if it had Boarding Patrol for army building and Killteam

★★★★★Apr 30, 2023
Awful experience compared to the AOS app

Every aspect of the app requires a subscription including the data sheets if you’re interested in using an app for aiding in gameplay I suggest just playing AOS instead as the app is better and all the base rules are free, no subscription whatsoever even mentioned
