I've been playing for several years. I upgraded to no ads about 3 months after I downloaded the game and it helped tremendously on time and effort. I am now on Mine 145. All my mine cards are maxed & I like that the game now converts new cards to higher level upgrades (albeit it takes forever to get enough to level up on things with purple or gold cards). As for the shovel side quests - I have dug up all the standard squares and still continue to gain shovels without being able to go further.

I've been playing this game for 7 years. I rarely see ads. You can choose not to watch the ads. Sometimes, I just let it ride for a couple of weeks and then pop in to claim stuff and just let it rack up.
