Extremely frustrating longstanding bug where scrolling jumps back and forth around inline images and advertisements.

Although reliable, the August update has resulted in this app using an extraordinary amount of battery. My phone is just over a year old, yet when I read the SMH through the app my battery charge can halve in less than a couple of hours. Also, the print option has been removed. If I want to print the puzzles, for instance, I have to go to the paper online and print from there. Very clunky. Just saw that this latest update has restored the printer icon 😊

this is a terrible app. it never starts without having to go into Android settings and manually stopping the app then going to the app to open it again. it times out and the screen has to be constantly touched to keep it open. In 2026 this app is so awful it becomes unusable. it lacks navigation controls to so it gets stuck in modes that even stopping and restarting does not recover

I mostly like the app but am frustrated that some features (eg comments on articles) aren't supported. So I open SMH in Chrome, only to find that every time I open a story in the web browser, it opens the app and opens it there. Which is the opposite of what I'm trying to do. I'd love to know whether that's modifiable. I've tried to stop it a few times... But I can't find any settings on my phone or tablet that help, nor any settings in Chrome or the SMH app that explain it/modify it.
