TIDAL Music: HiFi Sound

Following the latest Apple update, Tidal now crashes and won’t work on Apple CarPlay

I switched to Tidal after Spotify ran ICE ads and I found out the owner loves to give his money to AI war drone training, not to mention them being pro AI “music” slop.(gross) I switched back in January and have been repeatedly frustrated with this app. The user interface and offline mode SUCKS HARD! With as buggy as this app is i wouldn’t expect them to be raising prices but sense joining they have done at least once already and I’ve noticed no improvement in my dad to day listening. The worst part is, is that I REALLY want to stick with this app and support it because of its stance with AI and it pays its artists more but Tidal is making it really hard. I drive for a living so my music is very importing to me and sense joining this app I’ve not had an uninterrupted listening session in the 9 MONTHS I’ve been listening with Tidal. Anytime I’m not connected to WiFi it will just randomly pause my music even when I’ve got all 5 bars with 5G, I even had Turbo with AT&T for a while and it would still pause multiple different times. So to try and deal with this I downloaded my larges playlist that I listen to the most when I’m out hopping it would help or that I could just set it to offline mode to listen but that also hasn’t helped. Now lets also talk about there offline mode in a general. When you need it most the app is almost completely unusable! If you have less than two bars there is a 85% chance the app won’t load to let you get to offline mode and in the small percentage that it dose I’ve only got it to work once because it keeps trying to tell me that my phone “isn’t authorized to listen offline” whatever the hell that means. It also will tell you your entire playlist is downloaded but only have a very small chunk of it. My playlist I brought up earlier has over 2600 songs on it and in offline mode it will only let me have access to 183 of those songs. Moving on from there Tidal also can’t keep its place in a playlist to save its life. If I’m listening to a playlist before I leave for work and I get into the car it will drop where I was and go back to the start of the playlist and play the songs in the exact same order I just listened to them at my house. This also applies to when I get out of the car, or pretty much anytime I connect it to Bluetooth or Apple play, so I have to go in and make sure I hit shuffle at the top of the playlist every time I go to listen and I’m not even closing the app in between switches but let’s also touch bace about their shuffle. It’s really not much better than Spotify’s shuffle feature if at all. The playlist I have with well over 2000 songs will REGULARLY give me the same 50 songs making the shuffle feature practically useless. With all that being said I’ve not even got much to say about what I do like about Tidal or what makes to better than Spotify other than Tidal does have a better audio quality but that’s just about it. I feel like I wouldn’t even be as upset about how buggy the app is if it had even half of the features Spotify has but it doesn’t. Even though Jay-Z no longer has control over what is done with the app sense he sold most of his ownership to Block Inc I would be surprised if he even used the app he helped developed because if he did the app would be way better.

Really wanted to switch to the more ethical streaming service but honestly the download feature is so bad. Any time I try to download an album it’s always piecemeal and half of them inexplicably don’t download. I’m stuck listening to the same three albums again and again on the subway because it is just that bad at downloading. Really was hoping for better.
