GemTrail: Rock Identifier

Localization & Metadata Updates

Most rock identification apps stop at a name. GemTrail: Rock Identifier turns every stone photo into a specimen-style record with visible evidence, confidence indicators, recheck guidance, and a polished card you can save or share. Take a photo of a rock, mineral, crystal, or gemstone with your camera, or choose an existing image from your photo library. The app analyzes visible characteristics, suggests the closest possible match, and explains why the result may fit—including color, texture, structure, lighting, visible details, similar materials, and recommended next checks. Build a More Organized Collection * Identify rocks, minerals, crystals, and gemstones from photos * Review confidence and photo-quality indicators before relying on a result * Save each specimen with its image, suggested match, source, date, notes, and status * Mark favorites and quickly find samples that need further review * Retake photos when lighting, focus, or visible details are insufficient * Browse a built-in reference library featuring 140 common rocks, minerals, crystals, and gems * Compare similar materials using practical clues such as luster, hardness, streak, texture, and formation * Create a polished Stone Specimen Card to save or share Designed for Curious Collectors Whether you are a collector, student, hobby geologist, lapidary learner, crystal seller, outdoor explorer, or simply curious about a stone you found, the app provides more than a quick label. Each identification keeps the supporting information attached to the specimen, helping you review uncertain results, explain your findings, and organize your growing collection. User-Controlled Photo Access Camera and photo-library actions are initiated by you. Choose or capture a specimen, review the result, and decide what you want to save or share. Important Identification Notice Photo-based identification provides an educational starting point and should not be treated as a certified geological, gemological, safety, or monetary appraisal. Results may be affected by lighting, image quality, surface condition, camera angle, and similarities between materials. For valuable, rare, hazardous, or safety-sensitive specimens, confirm the result through physical testing or consultation with a qualified professional.
