★★★★★ One suggestion for the geohash though: It seams it is not possible to browse for geolocations on the iOS app. You can only type in the code. Not really practical. It's like browsing the internet using IP addresses.…

sehr gute app

Very nice and niche app, but has some small issues

The app works perfectly as intended, although I don’t use it often, I like the concept of a messaging app that communicates through bluetooth. Personally I currently have 2 issues: • I cannot receive photos from adroid phones as an apple phone user (should be easy to solve) • The application is not very wide spread and so, I neither find people who already have the app nor can I communicate with friends through longer distances, due to it being not thst wide spread. (So probably more advertising?) But all in all wonderful app, I like it!

Mega geile App.

Bug report

Hey, the app asks for Bluetooth permission but there’s no option to enable it in Settings. I tried reinstalling and resetting privacy settings, nothing works. The Bluetooth toggle just doesn’t show up for this app. Please fix, can’t use mesh feature without it.

What's new in 1.7.1

bitchat 1.7.1 is a security and reliability release. - private photos and voice notes are now encrypted before they travel over bluetooth - stronger identity verification during encrypted handshakes stops impersonation - identity keys are now bound to this device and never sync or transfer — a seized backup or cloned storage no longer yields your keys. your identity stays with the device: switching phones or reinstalling starts fresh - panic wipe is faster, more thorough, and behaves the same every time - a locked phone gives away less - direct messages reliably survive reconnects, bluetooth toggles, and app restarts - persian localization (فارسی) and an in-app language picker - verified badge next to names you've verified; blocked people no longer appear in @-mention suggestions

Released Jul 28, 2025. Current version shipped Jul 31, 2026.
