Game is unplayable

I finally decided to check a walkthrough because nothing I was trying worked - turns out the game wouldn’t allow me to do most of the tasks on Child Lane. It’s a shame as I really love the Rusty Lake series.

I love these games, I am almost finished playing the whole collection and this one is amazing as well, however there is one part of the game, that’s makes it very frustrating. In the phone booth and when you’re dialing the phone number, it’s extremely hard to dial the phone number, the numbers keep going to wrong numbers and the number you do want to dial, it dials every number, but it….If there is any advice you can give me or ways to fix it, it would be helpful!!
