★★★★★ failed to find the RFID chip in a brand new passport with a 1 year old iphone.
★★★★★ I've tried about 13 times, and it constantly fails.
★★★★★ Chip scanning doesn't work

★★★★★ When it takes a photo of passport page it randomly says that it's the wrong kind of document, takes a picture before the document is very centered, complains that there is glare when there is none, rejecting good…
★★★★★ Even if it was perfect, all 4 corners, clear image & had the 2 bottom lines in the pic - it still said it was wrong.
★★★★★ The app requires a non-reflective photo. This is nearly impossible since the UK and US passports have a complex reflective anti-fraud layer. I tried mutilole times and never had a photo accepted. The app is…
Price and subscription8%

17 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Didn't feel like trying online so just cancelled all my London reservations, which could luckily do without major cost .
★★★★★ The app works great and functions perfectly, but this is such a scam by the UK government to steal money from people
★★★★★ Currently unusable, this is costing a fair amount of airline/consumer money as it has been down since for at least 33 hours now and there were at least 20 people on our flight last night who couldnt get on
Crashes and freezes7%

15 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Keeps getting frozen on the biometric chip screen
★★★★★ Currently unusable, this is costing a fair amount of airline/consumer money as it has been down since for at least 33 hours now and there were at least 20 people on our flight last night who couldnt get on
★★★★★ The app is completely unusable - it crashes every time you get to the biometric scanner.

9 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ The app force you to pay in your local currency even if you have GBP available on your bank account, resulting in unavoidable conversion fee
★★★★★ I've checked every mailbox in my email and haven't received the verification to proceed.
★★★★★ Every time that you get the dreaded message about the service not responding, you'll have to start over from scratch and go through the email verification step and basic info all over again.
Limits, credits, locked features4%

8 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ But the clinker is this wouldn't accept payment even after trying 2 credit cards, a debit card and even linking Applepay, which I'd never used.
★★★★★ In addition, LHR by design does not have “sterile” airside transit unlike many airports around the world and foreign transit passengers have to pay for this flaw.
★★★★★ Final thing - message says because you are in Canada you need to pay in USD.
Missing features3%

6 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ When it did approve a pic, it was always missing the 2nd line of numbers.
★★★★★ No way to go back when it can't read passport.
★★★★★ Why is there no option to verify that one has a valid ETA?
Lost data, sync, backup2%

4 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I have deleted and restarted and all I get is “Sorry it's busy try again in a couple hours.”
★★★★★ My ETA approval email was lost and finding record of it has proven impossible.
★★★★★ I have been trying for 2 days and counted I have received 35 login codes, meaning I have gone through at least some portion of the process 35 times.

Submission Issues

The application never works on the first submission and sometimes takes up to five submissions for any individual person. It is a complete waste of time and inefficient. That is a government app for you…

Less than $30, Less than 10m, less than 10sec

I’ve been to various countries and I have filled out entry visas before. Out of all the entry visas I’ve had to fill out: this has been the easiest one by about 10km and I have got to say I am extremely impressed. Just like the headline noted: it cost me less than $30. I miss when entry and transit for non Europeans/non residents etc was free BUT I can’t complain too much. From start to finish the application took 9 minutes and some of that delay came from me fiddling with my camera and passport. After I hit submit, my application was approved in literally less than a minute. Less than even 20 seconds. I wish entry into all countries was this fast and inexpensive. Especially Africa.

Does not read chip

Not sure why, but absolutely refuses to read biometric chip in my US passport.

★★★★★Oct 10, 2026
Difficult to use

The functionality where the app takes a picture of your passport is badly done. We tried a dozen different times with each of our passports and it keeps complaining that “there is a problem with the picture”. No, mate, there is a problem with the app! The app decides when to take the picture (it doesn’t wait for the user to press the button) and then complains about the picture. We could not see any problem with the pictures of our passports. We hope it all works out well.

★★★★★Oct 9, 2026
Failed repeatedly

The worst travel app ever designed. It kept crashing each time, which requires starting over in a 8-step process. Apparently the government would prefer that no one travel to the UK.
