HOW SURE ARE WE
Not in any grossing chart, so this comes from ratings growth (4.8 new ratings a month on average since launch): revenue grows with new ratings, more slowly for apps that collect ratings fast. Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2 times, and big earners tend to come out low. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

Price and subscription36%

33 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Will talk to Apple about a refund
★★★★★ It seems like it's all about money for you people.
★★★★★ Very disappointed for the price model that do not allow old user to upgrade.
Bugs, things not working33%

30 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ especially when i connect midi devices it is always crashing and i think this bug was done by steinberg's developers to make a customers quickly buy cubasis 3 without update price.
★★★★★ Either the manual is out of date, or there is an unaddressed bug in this app.
★★★★★ It simply doesn't work for me, because it lacks one of the simplest functionalities, one that dates back to analog recording: Punch-ins.
Worse after an update21%

19 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I spent a decent amount for Cubasis 2 (A Mobile app!) Then I find you update the product and want full price again!
★★★★★ Unbelievable... business model! Be fair and at least offer your users discount or half the price for v3. Thank you. Lars, we can see the same auto massage across YouTube and inside the App Store. I don't think its…
★★★★★ Really disappointed with the new update.
Wrong or poor results13%

12 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ You only get one low quality reverb.
★★★★★ I normally don't put negative reviews but this is a huge company who did the wrong thing and messed up.
★★★★★ Please correct me if I'm wrong but there is NO PUNCH IN/PUNH OUT option.
No customer support13%

12 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Steinberg customer support will not answer questions about Cubasis.
★★★★★ I don't think its wise to support companies that don't offer discount for past customers but expect users to beta test new app.
★★★★★ That being said, it is severely compromised for its lack of support for changes in time signature and tempos during a song, features promised at least from 2013 on the company's message board.
Lost data, sync, backup12%

11 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Still a problem in loop mode. They didn't fix with new update. Very disappointed.
★★★★★ b) sometimes undo crashes the app, see above why this is poor programming - you project is gone
★★★★★ Interapp capabilities are gone.
Crashes and freezes11%

★★★★★ i used cubasis for years and now - after a last update and after cubasis 3 - it's start crashing all the time.
★★★★★ I have many songs where some external instruments cannot be frozen or routed through Audiobus.
★★★★★ Cubasis however crashes every time I try to use inter app audio.
Missing features10%

★★★★★ It simply doesn't work for me, because it lacks one of the simplest functionalities, one that dates back to analog recording: Punch-ins.
★★★★★ This is a 5 star app for learning how to make your own music but it's missing a several things....
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • The old Cubasis needed all those updates to make it what it should have been on release. 3★, Jan 17, 2020
  • Need to have regular updates! 5★, Oct 14, 2019
  • Easy to edit and it's truly a great companion, specially for a MODX or Montage I do wish it had a couple of other features that I miss a lot, and they should ad this feature in an update, I would even be willing to pay… 5★, Sep 1, 2019
  • Please add Audio Recording Comping within one track. 5★, Sep 1, 2019
  • Please add (Comp recording) Please please add a way that you can loop record and while the cycle repeats you can record over and over different takes on the same track to later on edit the perfect take. 5★, Sep 1, 2019
  • We should have the ability to tune that note. 5★, Sep 1, 2019
  • Please add The ability to rename projects within the project window. 5★, Sep 1, 2019

WHAT THEY LOVE · SHARE OF GOOD REVIEWS
Easy to use22%

36 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ It's as close to Logic Pro I've seen on the iPad there is also Auria however I find Auria a bit cluttered i find the interface of cubasis to be clean and easy to move around.
★★★★★ I also want to note that for people who don't learn daws fast, that this is very easy to use and it's very practical.
★★★★★ The track windows are intuitive and navigation makes sense.
Looks great15%

25 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ I tried n-Tracks Studio 9 and liked their interface but that app sounded terrible when recording audio tracks.
★★★★★ I like the new interface and it seems smoother but not without glitches and new changes that are pointless.
★★★★★ iPad touch UI def makes parts of this harder.
Accurate, great results13%

21 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Very cool and it works well.
★★★★★ Cubasis also supplies an array of quality instrument patches, a top tier synthesizer, drum loops and at least a dozen, easy to use onboard effects.
★★★★★ Huge thanks for Cubasis for keeping their game strong on IOS allowing for professional quality even on a device where people tend to be skeptical at first.
Fast9%

14 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ The workflow is just so smooth.
★★★★★ I also want to note that for people who don't learn daws fast, that this is very easy to use and it's very practical.
★★★★★ You make my music producing experience easy, intuitive, professional, fast, comprehensive and fun!
Great support7%

12 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ DEVELOPER RESPONDED AND FIXED THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH WAVES IN APP PURCHASES...THANKS
★★★★★ Very intuitive, runs very smoothly, can integrate with almost any other app, excellent customer support, continually updated and improved, and most importantly to me you can pass projects back and forth with Cubase on…
★★★★★ I would also add that Cubasis (and MTS) currently support AU plugins, which Auria Pro (as of September 2016) still does not.

No Reverb, Can’t Be Registered

You can download it, but you can’t register it on older iPads (air 12.5.7). Registration goes to a blank screen. Since the registration happens when you download the “free” “good” reverb, that means you don’t get that reverb anymore. You only get one low quality reverb. Steinberg customer support will not answer questions about Cubasis. If my iPad were newer, there probably wouldn’t be an issue, but if my iPad were newer, I would download Cubasis 3. It may be time to stop selling this app since it can’t be registered and no longer includes an important advertised feature. Will talk to Apple about a refund

This is the best app ever I’ve ever used i’m rating a five star

Why do I have to own two of the same DAW? I own version 2 already and have to buy this ?

Why there couldn’t be an upgrade for those who have purchased version 2. It seems like it’s all about money for you people. Imagine every other develop was to do like you. It just doesn’t make any sense. Not a good way to treat existing customers who bought and supported app from start. Crazy 🌛

Very disappointed

Very disappointed for the price model that do not allow old user to upgrade. Good bye cubasis. :(

Audio editing stopped working

When I hilite a piece of audio and it opens up the editing bay the problem starts. The little triangles won’t move from the beginning and end so any changes I want to make apply to the whole piece. I can’t trim any specific parts, I can only fade in or out the whole audio clip. I can move the little triangles on the skinny bar above that that allows me to loom in on the audio but the other triangles won’t move anymore. All the other functionality works but I can only apply it to the whole part. So, unless I’m normalizing it’s pretty much useless. ..and I’m using Cubasis 2 instead of 3 that I bought for $50 bucks because 3 crashes all the time, usually within the first five minutes of any project, even simple ones with like 3 or 4 audio tracks and a few midi tracks that are all syncopated so not stressing the iPad…Meanwhile version 2 used to do fine with much bigger projects. I’m running a 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 inch, the last one with the audio jack (btw special considerations for the iPads with the jack would make a lot of people happy) Please help with this audio problem, I’ve bought some in app purchases so it would be a shame to lose close to $100 just off you guys. If 3 crashes and I can’t edit audio in 2, it’s some alternative like BeatMaker 2or3 which work fine. And if you sort this out maybe you can help me to export projects to Cubase. I picked Cubase because compatibility. The iPad was my gateway to music production.
