I loved KOTOR years ago and was hoping to play it again, but this is too buggy to be worth the time - in the middle of longer dialogue scenes, the screen freezes and the game shuts down, and at random (frequent) intervals character movement freezes up and you have to save, quit, and reload your game to unfreeze it. KOTOR on cd-rom had its share of bugs, but this is so much worse.
I played this game when it first came out, and I’ve replayed it a billion times. Got it for the MacBook Air M1. Was excited. No longer. Character frozen after every combat. Can’t move. I can get it to move again by leaving the game and re-loading the save, but I shouldn’t have to. It’s 10 dollars I’d love to have back. Sadface. Greatest game of all time fail.

This game is extremely buggy, after the first 5 mins of play the main character stops moving stopping gameplay for the whole game. Quite frankly it shouldn’t even be on the App Store thats how buggy it is. Kotor 1 and 2 do the same thing with the Apple Silicone chip
This is a great game, I’m glad I played it. Note that while the Mac App Store version of KOTOR 2 will run only on Intel CPU Macs, this game – KOTOR 1 – will run on both Intel and Apple CPU Macs. Tested by me on a 2019 Intel iMac and a 2024 M4 Pro Mac Mini both running MacOS 15.1.1.
The game now only runs in a window not as fullscreen on M MacBooks.
