★★★★★ It wasn't that long ago that I was paying $35 annually for Evernote. Then it was $49/yr. Then $99. The latest jump to $149 was the final straw. Luckily migrating to a new, far cheaper, alternative was incredibly easy.…
★★★★★ I got the email informing me they'd be increasing the price of my plan to $250 per year, which is way more than I care to pay.
★★★★★ But then they ratcheted the price up significantly multiple times and then required higher cost to keep it on more than one device!
Lost data, sync, backup20%

72 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I was told that although they couldn't help me recover the tag (which now says it is in ZERO notes) the great news is that I haven't lost any of my notes.
★★★★★ What I need is the same thing I've relied on Evernote for the past 17 years: reliable sync, solid search, and the ability to store a large collection of mostly text-based notes.
★★★★★ 2 sync changes a month ?!

★★★★★ The latest update v11.35.6 is SOOO GLITCHY!
★★★★★ I reported Chinese audio transcription bugs on November 3, 2025, which severely hindered my workflow as Chinese audio transcription is a main function I use.
★★★★★ I used to love Evernote, used it for 5 years, last 4 months have been awful: so buggy, keeps charging for upgrades without actually changing everything, it became a problem to use it on multiple devices even with the…

★★★★★ I'm trying to cancel my account which is proving to be a challenge.
★★★★★ I don't know what happened but I can't log in on my MacOS app, have to use the web version.
★★★★★ I moved all my notes out but lost a lot of data that couldn't be moved, and submitted to have my account deleted but I still haven't heard back.

★★★★★ The latest update v11.35.6 is SOOO GLITCHY!
★★★★★ The recent update to the iPhone App has ruined it.
★★★★★ It is updated all the time, but truly hasn't evolved for me, I' guessing someone has done it better by now.
No customer support12%

41 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I used their contact form to ask them to consider making the slight adjustment from 3 allowed devices to 4, and got an AI response back that said the plan is what it is - no mention of forwarding my request to the team…
★★★★★ I suspect there are many long-time users in the same situation (people with large note collections who don't need AI or business features but still want to support the product).
★★★★★ Their customer service is largely AI, prices have more than tripled in the last three years (now over €200 — three years ago it was €60!), they add and add functions that nobody needs, they will bombard you with…
Slow, laggy, battery10%

35 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Slow loading notes, Jumpy Scrolling, Note Jumping all over up and down, Graphics Glitching, App Not Responding, etc.
★★★★★ I was a heavy Evernote user (over 10k notes), but it was always slow to improve.
★★★★★ Evernote is consistently slow, non-responsive, and overall a poor experience especially when compared to other equivalent notes organizers.
Limits, credits, locked features10%

34 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ It meets my usage needs in every way except that it limits users to 3 devices.
★★★★★ The issue for me isn't storage; it's the 1,000 note limit on the Starter plan.
★★★★★ They just locked me out from making any new notes at $99 per year.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • The app does everything I want and after Bending Spoons took over, the quality of software definitely increased. 1★, Jul 30, 2026
  • I don't need all the AI junk they crammed in there; they should have a less expensive, AI-free tier. 1★, Jul 30, 2026
  • My storage and monthly upload needs are quite modest. 1★, Jul 2, 2026
  • On the other hand, the Advanced plan at $250/year includes a lot of features that I simply don't need and can't justify paying for. 1★, Jul 2, 2026
  • I don't need AI, business features, or advanced collaboration tools. 1★, Jul 2, 2026
  • I suspect there are many long-time users in the same situation (people with large note collections who don't need AI or business features but still want to support the product). 1★, Jul 2, 2026

★★★★★ Some of my favorite features have been phased out over the years (I feel like capturing documents and OCR used to be more useful and intuitive), but the developers are constantly looking for innovative features.
★★★★★ This seems simple enough, and would greatly improve effeciantcy.
★★★★★ It's a full-featured digital workspace that lets you capture text, images, web clippings, audio recordings, and even scanned documents—all organized in a way that's easy to search and retrieve later.

Worth the money13%

13 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ It is worth every penny for the professional plan, and the new features are just going to keep coming.
★★★★★ For a long time it had been my primary and only notetaking app, originally free.
★★★★★ i would add, just to not seem like a paid reviewer for bending spoons, that if i ever were to switch note taking apps, i would probably switch to the free Notes app in apple, which is great.

★★★★★ At its core, Evernote is designed for people who want more than just a place to jot down quick thoughts.
★★★★★ Finally, a notes app has to be fast and responsive at scale.

No longer worth the ever-increasing price

It wasn’t that long ago that I was paying $35 annually for Evernote. Then it was $49/yr. Then $99. The latest jump to $149 was the final straw. Luckily migrating to a new, far cheaper, alternative was incredibly easy. Nice knowing you, Evernote.

Disappointed in recent change

I’ve been using Evernote for over a decade. I got the email informing me they’d be increasing the price of my plan to $250 per year, which is way more than I care to pay. I went to investigate my options and found they offer a lower tier plan for a reasonable price. It meets my usage needs in every way except that it limits users to 3 devices. I use Evernote on my phone, iPad, laptop, and desktop. Having to give up my ability to use it on any one of those devices would be frustrating. I used their contact form to ask them to consider making the slight adjustment from 3 allowed devices to 4, and got an AI response back that said the plan is what it is - no mention of forwarding my request to the team for review, etc. Which is so frustrating and upsetting. So now I’m writing this review hoping they’ll make the change, otherwise I’ll be looking into other apps to use.

Evernote continues to do stupid things with the app

I have used Evernote for many years, but I continue to be amazed at their ability to do thoroughly stupid things with the app. Case in point is the current version that will not let you enter a value following a hashtag. So you can’t add something like “confirmation #10440” to a note. It tries to interpret the # as a tag and deletes the entry. You would think they would have discovered that this was a dumb idea in user testing, but not Evernote.

★★★★★Sep 21, 2026
Evernote got worse in last update

I am a long time user of Evernote, 10+ years. The recent update to the iPhone App has ruined it. When i search for a note, it pops us as “greyed out” and you cannot scroll the note. You need to back out of the search function to actually look at the note. The UI of iPhone App is now bad. Also, cost has exploded from $50 per year to ~ $250. I may just revert to the iPhone App “Notes”, which is free and meets most of my needs.

★★★★★Sep 15, 2026
Total bad faith from what was a great app

I used Evernote extensively and was very happy with it. The piled more and more features on which I found made it over complicated. Fine. But then they ratcheted the price up significantly multiple times and then required higher cost to keep it on more than one device! Apparently, the new owner reduced staff by 80% and raised prices. I’m out as soon as I finish exporting everything.

What's new in 11.39.2

Features: - You can now preview attached Markdown files as formatted text, and crop an image straight from the editor. - You can now apply text color and highlighting to mentions in a note, including notes, notebooks, stacks, spaces, and people. - Transcription recovery: if a transcription run fails, is interrupted, or the app closes mid run, Evernote now recovers the transcript saved on the backend. - Opening a note now reconciles audio recordings left stuck in the capturing state, so a dead recording no longer leaves an empty placeholder behind. Fixes: - Fixed a bug in which What's New articles appeared in English for some languages - Live transcription no longer stops midway through a recording after you switch or connect an audio device. - The AI Assistant and other AI features are now available in notes opened in a new window. - Note titles in the Tasks list's Assigned note column are no longer cut off when there's room to display them. - Folders you connect in Settings > Sync Folder now always appear in the list, so you can choose where their files go. - Calendar colors now display correctly in the calendar picker when creating a new event. - When inviting people to a Space, typing a name or email now filters the people who already have access, and the window closes when you click outside it.

Released Dec 30, 2010. Current version shipped Oct 21, 2026.
