HOW SURE ARE WE
Not in any grossing chart, so this comes from ratings growth (9.0 new ratings a month on average since launch): revenue grows with new ratings, more slowly for apps that collect ratings fast. Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2 times, and big earners tend to come out low. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

★★★★★ Frustrating, when I have a paid subscription and the only way to access the material is to use a web browser.
★★★★★ The app and webpage say that you click this link to put a hold on your subscription, but it just takes you around in circles.
★★★★★ This one is not worth the high price of the subscription.

★★★★★ Doesn't work half the time, opens to a blank page.

Too many ads5%

7 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ My biggest complaint about this app is: advertisements take up 50% of reading space!
★★★★★ Can't do the puzzle or get rid of ads on the 11th all I got was paper from the 5th Not much in Tacoma News anyhow same thing day in day out

WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • I need a new iPad to use this new upgraded tnt app! 1★, Mar 5, 2026
  • I want a full size replica on my IPAD not a 1/4 size one that I cannot figure out how to expand. 5★, Dec 18, 2019
  • The app works ok but I sure wish they would just report the news instead of subjecting us to their far left, pro Dimslee, pro Ferguson, and anti gun/second amendment nonsense constantly. 1★, Jan 5, 2019
  • Like any business, if their services aren't meeting my needs as a customer, I have no compelling reason to continue giving them my money. 2★, Nov 12, 2018
  • It would be better if they posted newer articles at the top so you didn't have search for them, or a way to sort on latest. 1★, Jun 15, 2014
  • I wish they would get it to work we advertise with them it concerns me. 1★, Oct 29, 2013

★★★★★ I do not like this app at all, jumps all over and makes it difficult to read the whole story. It is also hard to make the font larger and get the whole article you are trying to read.
★★★★★ I've used this all for awhile, love the new UI.

★★★★★ Great app for getting all the latest news from TNT. Good layout, easy to navigate. Much easier to keep up with Seahawks articles. Like the ability to easily update the page. Good job TNT.

Meh

I read the TNT to keep up on local news. What is lacking is true stories from someone who loves this community and it comes through with a way that inspires the reader to also love and engage in Tacoma. Tacoma is so special and the paper should do a better job of reporting with passion. There are so many great things and wonderful work happening in Tacoma. Share it with the reader. Inspire the reader to be in community. Share stories about non profits, that inspire community to get involved.

App requires system upgrade that old iPhone pad won’t support

I pad won’t support iOS 17. Now I can’t read the paper cause the old app won’t run. Buy new iPad or stop paper? The cost effective solution hurts you. Why are all the nicknames taken?

★★★★★Mar 5, 2026
Newest McClatchy update cannot be loaded on 5th generation iPad

IPadOS Version 17.0 is not available for 5th generation iPads so I don’t have the ability to read the Tacoma News Tribune. Who can I thank for this great customer service?

Can no longer use

I need a new iPad to use this new upgraded tnt app! I have the 16 and this requires a 17

★★★★★Jan 19, 2026
Doesn’t work half the time

Doesn’t work half the time, opens to a blank page. Better off using the website on your mobile browser.

★★★★★Jan 9, 2026
App not easy to use

This app is hard to understand and how to read the paper. They have a printed edition that is only published a few times a week, you can’t click on an article and read it in full so you have to zoom in to read it. But you don’t want to read this edition because it overlaps the eEdition. Then there’s the eEdition which you read daily and click on the article to read it in full, but only if you don’t get an error and you click retry and never comes up, then you wonder if you read all the news or not? I like reading other newspapers like The Wall Street Journal or The Daily World (Aberdeen, WA) where it’s only the printed editions and see the format like a regular newspaper but click on the article and read it in full and make font adjustments for easier reading. Finally, where is the local news? Only an average of 5 local stories for a county population of over 900,000? I want local news to read, you can get all the other news anywhere else on the Internet.
