HOW SURE ARE WE
Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (96 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.6 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

★★★★★ Even for a paid subscriber the pop up ads are frequent and highly obstructive.
★★★★★ The app used to be good. Now it is basically unusable. If you try to read an article an ad comes up and you can't get rid of it. So then I can't read the article I'm paying for. If I could give it zero stars , I would.…
Worse after an update15%

WHAT THEY ASK FOR

★★★★★ The newspaper is great but lacks in customer support and billing.

Looks great2%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ The layout and graphic design is good and user friendly.
★★★★★ As a Chicagoan The Tribune and WGN is one of my preferred source for news, so my review is based more on the functionality and app design itself, not overall content.

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Now it works well- like you would expect it to!
★★★★★ Just when I was about to cancel my subscription, they updated the app and it works great!

Harassing subscribers and Reid

I spent 30 minutes trying to track down two alerts. There was no obvious reason for them so I checked AI only to find out that the tribune wanted me to rate it. You flunked.

★★★★★Sep 25, 2026
Justin Fields?

Why is there a picture of a Justin Fields story in the update? Talk about a need for an update!

★★★★★Sep 24, 2026
Doesn’t function properly

When I am in Newspaper view and click on an article at some point the article jumps to extremely large size, making it unreadable. The only solution is to close the article and reopen. Constantly! This has been the case for years and the Trib doesn’t bother to fix it. So frustrating!

★★★★★Sep 13, 2026
Poor

I received a notice about Covid money. I clicked and got the response that I could subscribe or log in. I logged in the article opened for a few seconds the. I was prompted to subscribe again or log in. Didn’t I just do that. Your system stinks, maybe that’s why young people don’t read the Trib. One of these days, unless your system begins to work properly, I may do the same. I have been a subscriber since 1966.

This App does not have in app cancellation feature

I had this app for over a year. After a year the price was increased by 2000%. You can only cancel on the phone within a certain window of times. If you’re living overseas this is difficult.
