This used to be such a great app, so many groups have found other ways to organize 😔 The app is expensive for hosts - during the quarantine they wanted hundreds of dollars to keep a group i hosted open even though we couldn't host events. They deleted the entire group after offering ownership to anyone The app has horrible search features - an app for socializing where it's hard to find events, people, and interests. Oof. The app shows intrusive pop ups over confirmations- no, i don't care about signing up for new services, i want to socialize and the host is already paying through the nose just to list their events Meetup used to be a disappointment, then they made it worse.
Seems like a great app idea, but unfortunately the search and distance function does not seem to work at all. Not easy to find groups around or for certain topics. I’m constantly being shown groups in other countries, and there’s absolutely no point in entering search terms because the results don’t even come close to matching what you type in. It’s also a shame that you can’t create your own group or community without paying a ridiculously high price for it.
