HOW SURE ARE WE
Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (138 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.6 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

Login and account problems33%

3 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Imagine an app that requires you to have a username and password.
★★★★★ I guess they just assume you magically already know "chart-ese" Update - there's no way like in the app it doesn't even show you what your username and password is.
★★★★★ You can't even reset your password.
Price and subscription22%

2 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Not at all what I was looking for. Songs I imported sound pathetically amateurish. Wanted something to play along with and every sample I've listened too. $20 wasted.
★★★★★ Basically the guys that wrote this have made their money, and are continuing to do so with ongoing sales of the product.
Limits, credits, locked features22%

2 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ But no, you are locked out.
★★★★★ Its very limited capabilities are indeed extremely useful, for one simple reason: Everybody else uses it, so you have to as well.
Worse after an update22%

★★★★★ This is basically an iPhone apps that was clumsily updated for iPad.

WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • Multiple pages would be great . 4★, Apr 8, 2026
  • Please add real drums for the Brazilian styles, recorded by a Brazilian drummer please. 4★, Nov 12, 2025
  • However… I really wish they could bring back the option to change the background and font to any color, because it makes me feel like even more of an artist. 5★, May 18, 2025
  • I wish I could tell what I think about what this app does. 1★, Nov 21, 2024
  • Only thing I wish was that the practice transposition would go up/down by interval and not by half steps. 5★, Oct 24, 2024
  • Can you add the melody? 4★, Jun 3, 2024
  • Need more Rhythmic Chordal features, such as quaver and semi-quaver beams in the bar, which are widely used in contemporary music. 5★, Mar 30, 2024
  • I am begging you guys, please let us have the old keyboard layout back. 4★, Sep 19, 2023

Great support17%

14 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ I use iReal Pro on 3 devices. It's important to have them all in sync, as I use my iPad at rehearsal and on stage. The few times I've needed help, it's always prompt and effective.
★★★★★ Technical support is quickly provided by knowledgeable, actual humans.
★★★★★ Let me start by saying that I LOVEEE Ireal Pro, I've been using it for almost 7 years now and I've had zero complaints. Now, I was using the app on my ipad the other day like I always do and had the apple pencil in my…
Easy to use12%

★★★★★ Although most jazz guitarists like moveable chords, and hardly know what a capo is, this app is far more versatile than its service to the jazz community would suggest, and is is a shame that the long standing clamor…
★★★★★ About a year and a half ago, I decided to get realistic about my playing and wanted to see if I could “make the changes” using simple seventh arpeggios over “Fly Me To The Moon,” while staying in one position on the…
★★★★★ Now, I was using the app on my ipad the other day like I always do and had the apple pencil in my hands, how easy it would be to actually write the chords I want with the apple pencil instead, it'd be a lot faster too.

Fast5%

4 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ So long as the chords were right and my solos composed of pentatonics and random notes played really fast with some youthful confidence were enough to fool most people.
★★★★★ I had a support issue on a Saturday/holiday weekend and got a fast answer.

Cymbals overload

Love the app , just too much laying on the cymbals in every “ song “ exercise choice . Needs cymbals cut down like piano and other instruments . Then a 5 star for sure .

★★★★★Jul 23, 2026
Fiddle learning skyrocketed

This is the best paid app ive ever used. I was learning traditional fiddle and bluegrass, and i was able to program the songs in and play along with to practice at all speeds. And i can hear when im out of tune. You can select styles like bluegrass and i have a basic banjo roll playong the chords

Cost over $20 and you still need in app purchases

This is pretty much of a scam charging $20 for the app which gives you very little and then asks for more money to make your purchase semi worth it

★★★★★Jun 4, 2026
Amazing app - one glitch needs fixed, though.

One little problem - if you set the chord diagrams to “off” they don’t go away like intuition leads you to think. You have to switch back to one of the instruments (guitar, piano, bass) and make sure it’s switched it off there or they won’t go away even if you select “off”. I thought it was broken but it’s just a broken bit of programming. That’s the work around, though. Please fix this, team. If I switch to off, it should turn off. Thank you! Love the app so much! Use it for my original tunes, too! Very good!

Shockingly helpful

It’s an amazing list of tunes, yes, but the real magic is play along in all 12 keys! It’s become an invaluable part of my daily practice. Coltrane used to have a piano player comp for him to practice. I may not be Trane, but at least I can practice like him.
