HOW SURE ARE WE
Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (305 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.6 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

WHAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT · SHARE OF BAD REVIEWS
Price and subscription65%

61 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I've tried to stop the charge multiple times after I did not like the app.
★★★★★ It said it will let you know when your subscription was getting ready to run out it did not do.
★★★★★ I signed up for a three-day trial.
No customer support24%

23 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I have emailed customer support twice and also contacted BookWatch through the in-app chat.
★★★★★ What has been even more disappointing is the customer service.
★★★★★ Their customer service is not responding and the app developer email is not responding.
Bugs, things not working12%

11 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ It's full of glitches—some books won't play at all, and others don't show as completed even after I've finished them.
★★★★★ Major bugs to fix with this app…don't buy it!
★★★★★ However, when I am spending a large portion of my time trying to navigate glitches which make books inaccessible, or long periods of freezing or loss of sound or other such things, the time involved x frustration…
Login and account problems11%

10 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Despite that agreement, BookWatch separately charged my checking account $89.99 through Stripe.
★★★★★ It froze my entire Apple account because of it.
★★★★★ Be careful and don't download or sign up.
Lost data, sync, backup5%

5 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I had it on my phone for two days, I cancelled the trial and deleted the app from my phone.
★★★★★ I'm out $100 and this app has effectively been deleted.
★★★★★ I tried the trial period, and decided it wasn't for me and I cancel and deleted the app and I was still charged anyways I did the refund process with Apple twice and apparently there is nothing Apple can do.
Wrong or poor results5%

5 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ After clicking on the 7 day trial you get charged for the year immediately!!!
★★★★★ Be aware of the fake free trial.
★★★★★ I can only assume the developers are creating or paying for fake reviews.
Missing features5%

5 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ The lack of customer service regarding a billing problem is unacceptable.
★★★★★ There's no way to search for a book or choose which books you would like to view, just ones that the algorithm allows you to view from the small library they've created so far.
★★★★★ If you try their trial period and forget to cancel them, there is no way to refund the charge which is 99 usd for annual.
Crashes and freezes4%

4 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Since then, the app consistently freezes during audio playback and never progresses to the quiz or summary screens.
★★★★★ However, when I am spending a large portion of my time trying to navigate glitches which make books inaccessible, or long periods of freezing or loss of sound or other such things, the time involved x frustration…
★★★★★ Buyer please beware and it states it's supposed to help people with ADHD and visual learners but this isn't the case of the app freezes and stops midway through a video
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • I should have been charged only the accepted $19.99 rate plus tax. 1★, Sep 22, 2026
  • I decided to keep the subscription because I thought in the future, they may add more books and this was a fair price indeed. 3★, Sep 3, 2026
  • Wish they would have shown the book offerings prior to making me download to app, sign up for a free trial, and answer a bunch of questions when there are zero offerings of what male readers would actually like. 1★, May 29, 2026
  • Please give me my money back!!! 1★, Mar 4, 2026
  • Went through the trouble of creating an account then says 7 day free trial are you kidding me 😅 I wish these things would tell me it's not free instead of making an account each time 1★, Jan 4, 2026
  • The concept is marketable, however the execution with this app needs a LOT of improvement to justify their paid version. 1★, Jan 3, 2026
  • I love this app I wish it was parked better. 3★, Nov 21, 2025

Scam

I’ve tried to stop the charge multiple times after I did not like the app. I’ve tried to cancel 8 times, and they still went ahead and charged me. You cannot cancel this even if you tried to.

First Timer

Reading the introduction and deleting my 3+ books, where far as I could go before asking to leave a comment and rate. To that, it was seamless and I’m actually looking forward to trying BookWatch.

Very disgruntled

It said it will let you know when your subscription was getting ready to run out it did not do. Trust me $89.99 for a year subscription. That I did not want, I tried to cancel the service it kept giving me the runaround and not let me cancel . I emailed them did not get a response to cancel the subscription. I would not recommend trying it out at all.
