HOW SURE ARE WE
Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (76 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.6 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

WHAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT · SHARE OF BAD REVIEWS
Price and subscription54%

39 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Terrible app setup, if you buy a subscription you still have to buy coins to read latest chapters.
★★★★★ I'm trying a free trial for what seems to be the only subscription level but it still presents content like it might be gated.
★★★★★ All of my other apps, you either subscribe, or you pay per chapter.
Bugs, things not working15%

11 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Like the reader itself is…fine, I've definitely run into bugs where it throws me to the end of the next chapter, unresponsive page turns, etc.
★★★★★ It keeps jumping back to the first chapter
★★★★★ Has a lot of good content, however their entire platform is a disaster, it's buggy, massive login issues, SquareEnix has a terrible platform and no support and it's easy to get locked out of your own account while…
No customer support13%

9 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Has a lot of good content, however their entire platform is a disaster, it's buggy, massive login issues, SquareEnix has a terrible platform and no support and it's easy to get locked out of your own account while…
★★★★★ I like that there is a variety of manga and a way to support unknown manga BUT!!
★★★★★ I really want to support manga artists through official channels.
Limits, credits, locked features11%

8 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Has a lot of good content, however their entire platform is a disaster, it's buggy, massive login issues, SquareEnix has a terrible platform and no support and it's easy to get locked out of your own account while…
★★★★★ U have to pay to read and it's really annoying
★★★★★ But, when the simple act of reading is locked behind currencies and limited points like a F2P game, it becomes intolerable.
Lost data, sync, backup7%

5 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ If it weren't for that one slight benefit, I'd have deleted this trash.
★★★★★ I deleted and reinstalled the app, cleared caches, did everything I could think of but two days later nothing has changed.
★★★★★ Now it doesn't even have my history and the chapters that I unlocked with my free log in rewards are gone.
Login and account problems6%

4 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Has a lot of good content, however their entire platform is a disaster, it's buggy, massive login issues, SquareEnix has a terrible platform and no support and it's easy to get locked out of your own account while…
★★★★★ I'm stuck in a sign in loop and it keeps kicking me out even though I paid for the subscription so I canceled it pathetic on their part truly is K manga and viz do better
★★★★★ I initially enjoyed the experience and I would have bought some currency to keep reading the story but it will not let me create an account.
Crashes and freezes4%

3 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ I would have to wait almost 30 second for a page to load or it just wont load at all !
★★★★★ And it crashes frequently.
★★★★★ If it crashes it will cause you to spend the consumables again to reload the chapter portion causing it to cost double.
Slow, laggy, battery4%

3 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Not sure why it is still loading a single page at a time rather than preloading a chapter.
★★★★★ i paid the subscription and it says in the app "images will load prior to reading" or whatever and when i go to open the page im on it shows that it is currently loading.
★★★★★ App is slow and is kinda messy, they need to fix quite a lot to succeed.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • I also wish there were viewing options. 1★, Sep 24, 2025
  • I wish more apps would go this route so it could be easier to read manga without scan apps. 5★, Sep 5, 2024
  • You should add more mangas like the jujutsu series 3★, Jan 13, 2024
  • Its a alright manga it has some titles then my other manga apps have but the only problem i have is that i wish i can fully buy the app instead of just buying coins to read more chapters 3★, Jan 12, 2023
  • Please give your money to somebody else but not Square Enix for their scam app. 1★, Jul 31, 2022
  • Very creative way to read free, wish there was a subscription as opposed to buying more coins though, would easily be 5 star! 4★, Jul 26, 2022

Worth the money31%

13 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ The app offers free chapters each day (though each chapter can be quite short).
★★★★★ Today, i read a few mangas, and I see no problems, and the month free subscription is something almost no manga websites do!
★★★★★ Not sure what previews they may or may not offer for free
Fun, addictive7%

3 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ This is so amazing and cool I'm hooked to this it is so fun
★★★★★ I saw an ad on YouTube about The Villainess' Butler and simply enjoyed reading the manga for free.
★★★★★ I really enjoyed this app.
Easy to use5%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ There are still some series that require experience points for the most recent chapters but given that they give you a ton of points for using the app everyday , it's really easy to get the chapters for free when it's…
★★★★★ I like this app because it's an easy way to read mangas with out spending little-to-no money.
Useful, it helps5%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Otherwise, it's very useful and I haven't had any problems with it other than sorting.
★★★★★ Also i like how you can read chapters daily really helpful.
Great support5%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Thank you for making these changes and making the app better in order for me to support the creators legally!
★★★★★ tldr; a great app to read official translations and support the staff.

Good for short reads and has some classic manga as well

The app offers free chapters each day (though each chapter can be quite short). I like how it doesn’t have annoying ads. Has a good variety

Double Charge for Coins and Subscriptions

Terrible app setup, if you buy a subscription you still have to buy coins to read latest chapters. It’s a scam to squeeze as much money as possible out of readers.

★★★★★Jun 25, 2026
Great app! But could use some changes.

This is an awesome app! There is so many choices of manga books! And different categories you can pick from! But if I were to make a suggestion, it would be to give the points and coins a different use instead of limiting the amount of chapters you can read a day. Like maybe the coins and points could be used to like unlock premium manga books or something like that. But otherwise, it is a great manga app, I highly recommend it 👍

Review

From my experince in "Manga Up!" today, I can tell this is a great app. No this isn't some randomly generated AI or anything. Today, i read a few mangas, and I see no problems, and the month free subscription is something almost no manga websites do! I definitley reccomend this app to people who want to read manga. Give it a try!

★★★★★Jun 12, 2026
It’s fine I guess

Why are the categories so random? Like put romance, or slice of life you don’t need media tie ins or game.
