HOW SURE ARE WE
Not in any grossing chart, so this comes from ratings growth (3.6 new ratings a month on average since launch): revenue grows with new ratings, more slowly for apps that collect ratings fast. Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2 times, and big earners tend to come out low. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

★★★★★ Doesn't work very well on iPhone unfortunately.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • It would be great if the extension can detect if a video has subtitles and then be able to display them. 4★, Sep 2, 2024
  • It would be nice if the developer had an excluded list option for certain urls so they could function normally. 5★, Sep 4, 2022
  • The similarity to Vinegar is so strong though, instead of a bundle I wish they had just been IAP's so I can deal with one less extension icon and app in safari. 5★, Dec 27, 2021

Accurate, great results30%

6 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ thank you for developing this app!
★★★★★ It would be even better if certain controls like closed captioning and quality were made available on the clean version, and a way to copy the link for the video so I can open it in a new tab (I hate that I can easily…
★★★★★ Works great, restores PiP to twitter

★★★★★ These features are pretty useful for watching lectures, which is a huge strenght of this app.

★★★★★ Love this app and its sister Vinegar. Couldn't live without them. It disgusts me now when I see a Twiter video.

★★★★★ Great app and simple design.
★★★★★ video quality) and just stick to the defaults which is annoying although I can't imagine a good workaround and it's easy to disable for specific sites.
Looks great10%

2 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Great app and simple design.
★★★★★ Also entering full screen changes the players UI, I personally perfer the non-fullscreen UI with the scrubber at the bottom so pausing videos doesnt have UI element pop up that blocks the view.

Look elsewhere now

Looks like this still works on some sites. It doesn’t do anything on others, but at least it’s better than breaking sites entirely like it does on ESPN.

Bro please add subtitle support

It's almost perfect

Doesn’t work

The app doesn’t work on any video I play on any website. There also doesn’t seem to be an easy way to contact the developer. His other app, Vinegar, is great and works great.

Fantastic but needs subtitles

This is a fantastic app that does exactly as it says. The issue is that there is no subtitle option. It would be great if the extension can detect if a video has subtitles and then be able to display them.

Store description

VINEGAR USERS: You can get a 50% discount by completing the Fizzy Water Bundle! Baking Soda is a Safari extension that replaces custom video players (except the YouTube player) with a minimal HTML video tag. Baking Soda is more basic than Vinegar. Unlike Vinegar, Baking Soda doesn't block ads or let you switch the video quality. If Baking Soda doesn't work on certain websites, you can easily disable it in the settings.
