Pointless without split tunnelling for apps

I want to be able to turn on my vpn and forget about it in most situations. However, apps like Amazon prime video don’t work through a vpn. To get around this, I would normally add this app to split tunnelling. Unfortunately, split tunnelling is only compatible on websites and not apps. So, if I want to watch Amazon prime on the go, I have to disable the vpn.
