HOW SURE ARE WE
Not in any grossing chart, so this comes from ratings growth (30 new ratings a month on average since launch): revenue grows with new ratings, more slowly for apps that collect ratings fast. Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2 times, and big earners tend to come out low. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

WHAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT · SHARE OF BAD REVIEWS
Missing features19%

7 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ You can't even edit notebooks or run the code in them.
★★★★★ Whats the point of this app, mind as well just make everyone pay to download it, this is ridiculous.
★★★★★ Furthermore, if your app uses asyncio and it has an exception which leaves the loop running, you have NO WAY to stop it other than quitting the app.
Price and subscription14%

5 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Instead of putting the price “free” you should make the app cost the pro feature because you can't do anything without the “pro” feature.
★★★★★ This is not even a Lite or a trial version.
★★★★★ A waste of money, unfortunately.
Crashes and freezes8%

3 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Also, it crashes more than any app that I have ever used.
★★★★★ Sympy crashes as soon as it sees the start of an attempted symbolic variable assignment.
★★★★★ I try again, it crashes when opening
Bugs, things not working8%

3 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ When using Juno for Jupyter Notebook, a very annoying bug is there on iPad OS: The cell you edit is not visible as soon as you are below the screen size.
★★★★★ The app hangs indefinitely when running a simple "hello, world" python script. What a waste ad everything else looks incredible.
Wrong or poor results8%

3 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Literally all useful functionality requires the full version, and it doesn't do enough to let me evaluate its worth.
★★★★★ If an app is practically a paid app completely useless without purchase, just make it a paid app.
★★★★★ I've been looking for a reasonable portable environment to do some lightweight Python/Jupyter work on the iPad. Reviews look good, go to download to hoping to be able to try before buy, but nope. The free use of this…
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • Juno lacks a lot of simple features that every environment should have. 1★, Feb 28, 2025
  • Also please add a free trial so people can see if it works for them especially since it costs $25 to unlock the full app. 3★, Feb 2, 2025
  • I wish more packages can be added, for example pymc, pytorch… 5★, Oct 13, 2024
  • Please add a way to collapse code cells while still showing the output and text cells. 5★, Jun 2, 2024
  • You really need a dedicated community, an official forum, discord group, something for issues, bugs and suggestions.. 4★, May 3, 2024
  • But I really wish there was one thing that could be implemented, and that would be pygame, if the pygame package was able to be installed this app I feel would be even more of perfect app. 4★, Mar 17, 2024
  • It would be great if there was a way to vote or provide some input for needing packages so that the company might be able to prioritize releasing them better. 3★, Aug 11, 2022
  • As iPad should have enough compute power for some machine learning, I thought it would be cool that I can test out the structure on iPad and then apply somewhere else. 3★, May 30, 2022

Easy to use12%

8 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ The UIs in Pythonista amd Pyto are much more intuitive , but sadly development has seemed to stall for both.
★★★★★ On top of all that the UI is beautiful, snappy, and easy to use.
★★★★★ It's stable and easy to use and definitely the best python app in the store after using many.

Looks great10%

★★★★★ I'd love to replace them with Juno, but the UI needs work.
★★★★★ It's Jupyter notebooks, but with a good tablet interface and well chosen libraries on board.
★★★★★ On top of all that the UI is beautiful, snappy, and easy to use.

Accurate, great results6%

4 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ I just have quality of life wishes that would take it to a 5 star for me.

Suggestions for Potential Downloaders

Juno is one of the most elegant IDEs I have ever encountered - second only to IDLE or Sublime Text. However, using an iPhone to do coding on Juno won’t release the full potential of this app since editing and debugging on a small touchscreen is not efficient. But if you’re using an iPad, especially a 13-inch model? Pretend I haven’t said anything yet.

Excellent tool!!! This review is for 4.3.2

I love Juno!!! This is one of the best tools in the App Store. I recently experienced performance issues with the previous release. I contacted the Juno team with sample performance data. They replied right away, fixed the issue and to my pleasure I downloaded the new update today from the App Store and my code flies. Great app, great team behind it, definitely five stars. Thank you!

It’s fine but the UX is the worst

Terrible keyboard shortcuts. No vim mode. It’s honestly just awful to work with. Skip it. Use a laptop.

★★★★★Aug 12, 2026
Cell Output Plots

Worth the $40 to use this app. However with latest builds, clicking cell output with plots doesn’t use screen wisely. on 12.9 in ipad, it pops up a 400 x 400 window that takes up less 25% of screen width and height. Zooming is awkward to use. Until developers fix, i’m going use my laptop

Store description

Zero-setup Python IDE that runs your code offline, an AI coding assistant, and a developer toolbox — in a first-class citizen app for iPad and iPhone. Juno is designed to cover all your Python coding needs, supporting both Python scripts (.py) and Jupyter notebooks (.ipynb) — a document format focused on applying Python to data analysis and computational science. FREE FEATURES - Navigate and manage files and folders, quickly preview documents and media - Browse and edit Jupyter notebooks in a powerful, customizable notebook editor with beautifully rendered previews — editing is free - Write and edit code sources, scripts, JSON, XML, and other text-based formats — one versatile editor for code and text alike, with syntax highlighting - Add quick access bookmarks for file system locations outside the app's sandbox, or simply open documents in place PRO FEATURES Only one thing in Juno is Pro: running code. Even that is free to try — a generous trial allowance lets you run notebooks, scripts, projects, and the REPL before you buy. After the trial, running code unlocks with a one-time Pro purchase — not a subscription. - Run Jupyter notebooks, Python scripts, and whole projects locally with the built-in Python 3.13 interpreter and a full suite of up-to-date, preinstalled scientific and data packages — entirely offline - Explore interactively in a Python REPL — open a standalone prompt, or drop into it after running a script or project to keep exploring what it defined - Search the variables, functions, and imports in your session with the Object Inspector — no need to print each one - Open any folder as a project: file tree, multiple editor tabs, run any script, with a coding assistant aware of the whole project - Keep side outputs — Preview, Browser, Console, Object Inspector — open as side-by-side tabs in an output sidebar - View local web servers and HTML your code produces in a built-in browser with developer debug tools - Long-running scripts and Jupyter sessions keep going in the background - Automate with Shortcuts and Siri: App Intents run a Python file, run Python code, or open a file — pass arguments and files, capture output, and chain actions - Leverage powerful data analysis, machine learning and developer tools: NumPy, pandas, Polars, DuckDB, Matplotlib, SciPy, Scikit-learn, OpenCV, pygame, and more - Enjoy painless package management: install any pure Python package with an intuitive package manager AI CODING ASSISTANT The assistant runs on your account or your key, not ours: sign in with your account or add your OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini API key, and requests go straight from your device to your provider. You control what you spend and share — Juno never takes a cut. GAMES AND EMULATORS pygame is built in: write games with touch controls, sound, and full-screen graphics, and play them on your device. Eight complete games ship as examples, alongside NES, Game Boy, and CHIP-8 emulators written in Python, each with a library of freely licensed homebrew games — play them, then open the code to see how they work. PYTHON MEETS iOS Reach native iOS APIs straight from Python with the built-in juno modules: clipboard, Keychain, device info, location, motion sensors, contacts, reminders, photos, sound, notifications, sharing, and Bluetooth. Show native alerts and pickers, present full-screen image, video, and web previews, or call into UIKit, Foundation, and any Objective-C framework via the Objective-C bridge. SCRIPTS AND NOTEBOOKS Python scripts (.py) get snappy, intelligent code completion, a console with a full terminal emulator, and a built-in media viewer for code-generated images, plots, and web apps. Jupyter notebooks (.ipynb) keep live code, markdown text, plots, images, and LaTeX equations in one file, with every output embedded right in the document — a perfect playground for data analysis and computational science.
