WHAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT · SHARE OF BAD REVIEWS
Bugs, things not working26%

74 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ The magnetic resistance failed twice in the first six months.
★★★★★ I am very frustrated that I can no longer use the bowflex app to track my workouts with my M7. This new app no longer supports the older machines. That's very frustrating that I can no longer track my workouts.
★★★★★ Support said Apple Watch does not work with JRNY.
Price and subscription25%

73 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ has potential but for the price they ask.
★★★★★ All the functionality should be included either on the machine or in a free app that is bundled with the original purchase price.
★★★★★ It completely sucks because you can't do anything without a subscription.
Worse after an update17%

50 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Next problem: the recent update.
★★★★★ This app was really good until recent version got updated and now motivation with video is so much out of sync.
★★★★★ Attempted to use my IPad but it won't support new update since not IOS 18 or later.
Lost data, sync, backup14%

41 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ This app was really good until recent version got updated and now motivation with video is so much out of sync.
★★★★★ Doesnt sent the correct heart rate per session to my Apple Watch, also suddenly stopped sending calories. Wish I got a Peloton bike instead.
★★★★★ In the middle of every workout around 20 minutes, it loses my connection and therefore I lose all my stats to keep logging on the app
No customer support13%

39 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Attempted to use my IPad but it won't support new update since not IOS 18 or later.
★★★★★ Contacted support and told them watch data not going into JRNY.
★★★★★ Their Max trainers less than 4 year olds they refuse to support in this app and they removed the old app that did support them.
Crashes and freezes12%

34 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ But the app freezes and disconnects every time.
★★★★★ I love the large variety of workout options and connectivity to my Bowflex treadmill but sometimes the app gets super glitchy which either messes up my workout by cutting it short or it won't load at all.
★★★★★ I am trying to set goals and when it freezes about 1 out of every 2 workouts it crashes and does not show my progress, very disappointed!
Wrong or poor results8%

22 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Created a new password because I forgot but it gets stuck at that part so idk what's wrong.
★★★★★ Everything about this app screams 'outsourced to amateur developers' and turnis the use of bowflex equipment infected with this garbage into a frustration of pathetically small Android keyboards and OS on cheap Android…
★★★★★ Completely useless to integrate with my standing bike.
Missing features8%

22 of the 1 and 2 star reviews.

★★★★★ Can't use the app if you can't change settings
★★★★★ And of course, the biggest thing missing from the system is that it doesn't give you any sense of wattage output it only gives you calories per minute
★★★★★ The latest update to the app has left. Very few recommendations for workouts for the Max trainer. Very disappointed.
WHAT THEY ASK FOR
  • I also wish there were unlimited skips with the music or at least let you curate your own playlist. 3★, Apr 28, 2026
  • Perhaps it's my unfamiliarity with the C6 workout options, but it would be nice to see where you're supposed to be at RPM wise per the instructor and I just haven't found that yet. 4★, Feb 22, 2026
  • I also wish it there was a free ride Option as I do extended cool downs, and warm-ups at times and those don't count for the fitness tracking. 4★, Jan 16, 2026
  • I wish the coaching comments with the virtual rides were customized for a recumbent bike. 4★, Dec 28, 2025
  • Please add more trails. 4★, Jul 31, 2025
  • I won't need a subscription to do them. 2★, Jun 29, 2025
  • The free version offers a nice video for a couple durations but it would be nice to track rides that don't have a set time limit or instructor led goals. 2★, Apr 24, 2025
  • Really need to add an option to go back to previous stop point on workout when you accidentally hit the stop point. 1★, Apr 14, 2025

Fun, addictive17%

25 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ Overall, there's great variety of workouts (both HITT and leisure) for those who want to enjoy a workout less than 45 minutes.
★★★★★ Been using the free version for years and really enjoy it!
★★★★★ My only complaints are I have to start each trail over each time because I don't run 3-6 miles, it would be more enjoyable to pick up where I left off to get the full experience and not get bored.
Worth the money11%

16 of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

★★★★★ I also wish it there was a free ride Option as I do extended cool downs, and warm-ups at times and those don't count for the fitness tracking.

★★★★★ Pair it with their bike and you have a super affordable option which is great for beginners and those more experienced .Love it and it helps to keep me healthy!
★★★★★ Plus adding the length of time for each video would be so helpful.

★★★★★ I like these workouts but sometimes I want to fast forward, like today when I accidentally got out of the app in the middle of my workout but there was no way to get back to where I left off.

Junk

If you’re downloading this app, chances are you have a Bowflex or Schwinn product. My condolences. This app is awful. The small manageable problem: every time it loads, it tells you to perform maintenance on your equipment. Manageable, if not for the other problems. Such as the app refusing to transmit to an external monitor. I use one. The problem isn’t my device or the monitor. I play my own music from my device to the monitor and it’s better speakers with no problem. But the app freezes and disconnects every time. Next problem: the recent update. Johnson appears to have eliminated all interval scenes from the app. Those were the only ones I used. All gone. I shouldn’t be surprised. I bought the C6 in January 2026. The magnetic resistance failed twice in the first six months. Total downtime waiting for Johnson to come fix it? Seven weeks. Do yourself a favor. Don’t walk, don’t even run. Get on a bike and pedal as fast as you can from Bowflex/Schwinn. Just use a different bike or you won’t get far.

Out of sync motivation

This app was really good until recent version got updated and now motivation with video is so much out of sync. Bring back the old version asap.

★★★★★Oct 6, 2026
New update

Attempted to use my IPad but it won’t support new update since not IOS 18 or later. Used iPhone 16 for first time and completed the Galway 30 minute triple peak pedaler as I’ve done many times before but voice was 5 minutes ahead of the ride. Not in sync. Never had this happen before.

Will not connect to m5

Will not connect to m5 No longer supports M5. Probably will not buy or recommend this brand again for that reason.

Velocore

Love the bike but the workouts haven’t been refreshed in years. Very disappointing considering the annual subscription fees. They need to step up with newly refreshed training

★★★★★Sep 12, 2026
Mostly Great

I’ve really been enjoying the rides and especially the adaptive workouts but there is definitely a major lack of non-bike workouts available with the subscription. Especially in Pilates- there are only 30 minute max workouts and a few of the 30 minute ones are only actually 23 minutes. The instructors can be a bit tough to follow because they stop doing the movements during the workout. Would really like to see an improvement on that area considering the cost of subscription and what is offered on Peloton.
