HOW SURE ARE WE
Not in any grossing chart, so this comes from ratings growth (118 new ratings a month on average since launch): revenue grows with new ratings, more slowly for apps that collect ratings fast. Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2 times, and big earners tend to come out low. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

★★★★★ I wish these apps would declare ight up front that there is no free version, only subscription offers.

★★★★★ It's much more courteous than prompting users to sign up immediately.
★★★★★ I hate this app, it serves no purpose just a bunch of articles from your “fitness coach “ even if you didn't sign up for fitness this app does not ask about my lifestyle what type of foods I consume just snap a photo…
★★★★★ I genuinely hate this model, I'm not downloading a free app on my phone just for it to make me go through a whole sign up and then tell me it's a paid subscription.

★★★★★ I love ate. I recently upgraded to iOS 16.2 and now my ate widget only shows a blank box! It used to show my last meal recap & stats! Help?!
★★★★★ I get an error message saying that I cannot log in through Facebook and that the developer is aware of the issue.
★★★★★ Lastly, the app description says it's a 7-day free trial, but when it prompted me in-app to choose a subscription model, it said “0-day free trial.” I'm sure this is simply a bug, but I'd rather not be on the public QA…

This app used to be so simple. Take a picture and that’s it. Now there’s so many options for people like me who only need one. Love the thought of using an emoji next to the meal to see how one felt afterwards.

The photo analysis function always has negative feedback

Update on 9/10/26: I just tried this app again after many months and many updates and they have changed and fixed nothing. The AI feature never gets the food right and you can't tell it what's in the picture. The whole point of logging food and journaling food is so you can go back and see what you ate that day or see patterns in your food so the log not being right is an issue. Yes, I understand you can add a note but the rest of the log is wrong and you can't change anything other than your note. The suggestions on what to change in the future are questionable at best because, again the food they think you're eating is wrong and the app is not worth the $10 a month minimum just to use it!!! Gave it a second chance and it's still the same awful app. The image-to-log feature is what most people are paying for and it sucks so I shouldn't be paying for a feature I can't use! 2/24/25: The app is fine until you use the photo analysis feature. It will always tell you it's not good. The first few times I didnt care beacsue my meals were not as good as it could have been but even if you do the suggestions it says and you replace everything with the “better option” it still says its processed even if you made it from scratch or its high in sodium even if you used all low sodium or it not enough veggies or its high in sugar when there's no sugar. It will always say it's a bad meal. I know it's just suggestions but if they want you to pay for this and use this for best results don't make it shame you for every meal you eat. I was told that my fruit bowl was “too high in processed sugar and I should try something lighter next time”!!! How much lighter can I get than a single apple with a few grapes? The only meals that got a ok result were ones where I literally had a single grape in the picture. That's not how healthy eating works; it's not just eating as light as possible. I was getting so stressed trying to make the meals so they would pass this stupid analysis and it's not possible or healthy.

Good, but too much

I really like this app, but I don't use any of the features aside from the photo journal. I have no interest in an AI coach, personally. I wish there was a lower subscription tier with restricted features, but I understand that it might not be feasible/profitable. Unfortunately, for $9.99 per month, I just can't justify it when everything else is getting more and more expensive. Kudos to the devs for making a great app.

Amazing App!

I used this app while I was losing weight after my first child. It helped me lose 30lbs! When I was pregnant with my second I had gestational diabetes and this app synced seamlessly with my blood sugar reader and I also used it to keep track of my steps and of course I use the photos to remember what I ate that day. Love it so much!
