Apple’s ordering mistake became the customer’s burden I requested a replacement for the 1m charging cable included with my iPhone, but the replacement order listed a 2m cable. When I questioned this discrepancy, the advisor, Zac, proceeded under the mistaken assumption that I had received the wrong replacement. I had not received any replacement. My question was simple: was the original cable included with my iPhone 1 meter long? Instead of answering, Zac directed me to phone support. It took repeated explanations to get that basic question answered. After that, the response was repeatedly that a Senior Advisor was needed to cancel the order and that I should speak with them by phone. My question about why I personally needed to call, rather than having the issue escalated internally, was never clearly answered. Zac ultimately provided a phone number and ended the chat. The issue goes beyond cable length. My messages were misunderstood, I had to repeat the same facts, and correcting Apple’s ordering mistake consumed even more of my time. Repeated apologies are no substitute for taking responsibility. Internal procedures and permission limits do not make this an acceptable customer experience. Apple needs to review the chat transcript and address both the incorrect order and the handling of this support interaction.
