I LOVE the 10th anniversary update! It's no secret that this is a difficult game, and for me the 10th anniversary update (enabling tap control instead of swiping, red danger squares, and info tooltips) has finally made the game understandable to me. I say this despite heavily playing the inspirations for this game, Hoplite and Auro: Monster Bumping. I just could not understand Enyo prior to this update and now, I'm hooked!!! Please keep these updates available, I love them so much. Thank you for making such an amazing game!

What happened?? (Update)Will gladly change review. I've poured plenty of hours into Enyo and it is very much worth your time and money. Arnold Rauers and Tiny Touch Tales have some of my favourite mobile games- I have at least 4 installed- that I always turn on when I need a distraction in gameplay or the wonderful art he uses. However, this new update has ruined several key functions of what I loved about Enyo.
The sliding function being exchanged for a tap is one of my biggest issues. Personally, I don't always hit enemies at full force- sometimes hit them to a certain distance for strategy. It feels much nicer to slide; however I can see how tapping can be good accessibility-wise, and hopefully there can be a toggle for that. The coloured tiles for indicating the enemies' available paths are also good for people first starting the game, but I feel it should also be toggle-able.
The main menu change is an odd choice. The new layout feels more inconvenient for one-handed playing, I liked it better in the middle of the screen. Stranger still is the new way to start a new game. Tap a difficulty you already have a game going in, and you get a prompt to continue with only one button to continue. To start a new game, you exit this prompt and tap the difficulty again. I'm worried for people that will lose their progress by accidentally tapping a difficulty, and immediately lose their progress when they habitually leave that prompt to tap the one they wanted. I want to believe the menu and the colored tile indicators stress are simply incomplete updates, and I really hope these are fixed. I'd love to love playing this game again. Kudos, thanks for reading.

Totally changed gameplay for the worstI’ve played this game daily for a couple years. This update killed it. No more control over how many spaces a player moves. Contacted the developer and he said the changes would stay. Sad to see it go.

ChangesPlease change the controls back. Or make it optional to. I love this game and always get it on new devices, been playing over 2 years, and this new control style feels very limited to me. I admire it, but I’d like the ability to swap between the two.

Needs settings, strategy tweak w/new update. Fun & Endlessly Replayable, A Modern Chess AnalogueLeaving my old review text intact and letting you know that the new update has some potentially unintentional features. The enemies’ potential movements are all now highlighted in red. This should be a something that can be toggled off in settings because it makes the game far easier.
Additionally, the mechanism for attacking has changed. When selecting an attack, the proper square tile has to be tapped, which makes it harder to be accurate (large fingers, small screen area). Another setting that could be toggled. Tap to select or drag to select. Dragging to select allows for more accuracy.
Lastly, there is no more nuance allowed with the shield. A large component of my strategy involved being able to place the shield in any particular tile I desired. For instance, I could place the shield in front of the Minotaur, who then would charge at me, pushing the shield into me and then I would shield charge the Minotaur. I could also place the shield on a cracked tile and then drag it back to me with the hook, which would make the tile fully open. Please bring back the ability to be granular with the shield. Now there are less strategy options available.
I also just noticed that the movement of the hook is no longer proportional to the amount of squared it covers, it now moves all objects and enemies across the board no matter how many squares away. This also has dramatically changed strategy. This game has consequently changed mechanics considerably.
Maybe an “all actions effect all squares” vs “actions are proportional” setting toggle? The game is so different as a result of these mechanics changes.
I do like that the bomb no longer has to explode before moving to the next stage, that is a nice addition.
I understand the desire to keep improving the app, honestly it’s admirable, but if you’re going to make significant changes, at least allow them to be toggled on and off in settings. The enjoyability of this game that I have loved for more than a decade has now been lessened. I am removing a star.
I’ve been playing this game on and off for…at least 10 years. I’ll get obsessed with another game and play it incessantly. But I always find myself returning back here. The relative simplicity of the controls and rules belies a hidden complexity. I discover small new things every so often; Just last week I realized that I can propel myself toward the shield-bearing cyclops with the hook, over lava, and cause an area effect without harm.
I want to continue playing this into my greying years, I feel that it’ll help me stay sharp, as the the apps geared towards that endeavor can’t hold my attention like this game does.
Every iOS update, I’m afraid that this will disappear. I’m even thinking of freezing an old device on an version of iOS that it can’t upgrade from, to keep this forever, if that would even work.
Thank you for putting this together. It’s an old reliable that has gotten me through a lot.

Strange 1.3.0 ChangesGREAT GAME, i’ve spent hours on it and it is definitely worth your time and money. That being said two things in this new update makes everything play worse. The light up red square tiles that tell you the danger ruins the entire challenge of the game, and i have no idea why the dash and throw are tap based now. It felt much better to slide your finger. I am happy for most things in the new update but i wish there were options to turn off the danger tiles and tap based moves *COUGH* *COUGH* Arnold….
