Mobile playability

I’ve played this game on several platforms: Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PC, and now mobile. I can say with confidence that IPhone is by far the worst one to play on. This game, as wonderful as it is, was not created with mobile play in mind. Due to the lack of buttons/fingers, you’re much more handicapped in terms of actions than other platforms. Of course, these are made up for, at least in part, with features like auto-aim. However, this does not excuse the fact that the game denies a sense of autonomy in your actions. Even if auto-aim is turned off, it still feels…wrong. Dodging is iffy, gunplay is awkward. Despite these nitpicks, this game is still probably one of the better options in terms of mobile gaming.

Does not translate

No. Just no. Gungeon with touch controls does not translate in any form or fashion. Doubly so if I’m relegated to a 6-7” screen. But what about an iPad with a paired bt controller? I’m already too checked out to investigate. Compared to the OG experience on PC this port does the franchise a disservice. Good on the devs for not letting Gungeon slide into obscurity but how about you focus on finishing #2 now. Fans are waiting for updates and we’ve heard NOTHING for almost a year.

Worst Version of Enter the Gungeon

Subpar, glitchy, rancid port with horrendous controls and bad gamepad support. Buttons stop working randomly, some enemies, like the bombshee, are not working correctly at all, and there are horrible visual glitches every other floor. Why can’t we display the cursor like we can on console? There are so many differences between this and the console version that bug me, but having the cursor back would be a huge improvement all on its own. I love this game, I love this game so very much. I just can’t recommend playing it here.

Store description

Enter the Gungeon is a bullet hell dungeon crawler following a band of misfits seeking to shoot, loot, dodge roll and table-flip their way to personal absolution by reaching the legendary Gungeon’s ultimate treasure: the gun that can kill the past. Select a hero [or team up in co-op] and battle your way to the bottom of the Gungeon by surviving a challenging and evolving series of floors filled with the dangerously adorable Gundead and fearsome Gungeon bosses armed to the teeth. Gather precious loot, discover hidden secrets, and chat with opportunistic merchants and shopkeepers to purchase powerful items to gain an edge.
