GPSmycity is our pocket guide. We love going off on our own and exploring new cities - we have saved tons of money through this app by not needing to hire local guides. (and often with locals there is a language barrier) The ability to drop pins to mark key areas is so useful. for example, we were on a cruise ship and took a shuttle to the downtown area. I dropped a pin where the bus dropped us off so we knew where to walk back to once our tour was finished.
I cruise all over the world, and a friend suggested I try GPSmyCity. I like how the app shows many city sights, and let's you choose which to see and in what order. I recently started to customize my own map, which adds even more value to the app. The app can give turn-by-turn navigation directions, and narrate the nice included descriptions for the sights.
Essential tool for travellers. I have used this app for some time to help guide me around, when on holiday. I was fed-up being part of a group. moving at the pace of the slowest person and moving on when I wanted to linger or go inside the place of interest. I recently upgraded to get the dialogue commentary and GPS locator. Sooo much better and helpful even when not doing a tour! No more getting lost. Very positive experience, I have recommended this to lots of friends.
Great app
Amazing app, loved it. It shows a map with sites to see, you can navigate between them in any sequence you want or easily create a route beforehand. Descriptions of sites are entertaining and nicely worded, neither too short nor too long. Number of sites competes with best guide books on the market, DK Travel and Lonely Planet, which I also use, and compared to this app on my last trip. Articles with tips are also very useful. This is a paid app but it’s cheaper than even one guide book.
I used this in Montreal and Quebec on a recent trip. My wife and I are big walkers, and we really enjoyed the walking journeys that cover many of the sights we wantwd to see. It is a better alternative than google as it links a series of sights and attractions, plus gives a pretty good summary of each. the varous city focused tip write ups were also quite usefull. I am looking forward to using it on our next city adventure!
