Know where to look, when to go out, and describe what you find. Champi maps the areas favorable to 16 mushroom species across France (porcini, chanterelles, black trumpets, milk-caps, morels, etc.) and tells you, every day, if the forest is ripe. A MAP OF FAVORABLE AREAS, SPECIES BY SPECIES Not a generic forest map: we've combined tree species, soil, exposure, and climate to map the areas favorable to porcini, chanterelles, morels, black trumpets, and 12 other French species. When you open it, your map shows all the species, sector by sector: the darker a sector, the more promising it is. Tap a species to see its specific areas, then zoom in to your forest, your trail, or even an aerial view. ANTICIPATE GROWING TIMES Each morning, the mushroom growth rating out of 5 and the coming days are calculated based on rainfall over the past few weeks, temperature, soil moisture, and the season for each species. When the forest is thirsty, your map will tell you. DESCRIBE YOUR FIND In the Observation tab, photograph your mushroom (up to three photos, which will be saved to your phone), then describe what you see: cap, underside, stem, flesh, smell… Question by question, the list of possible species in the library narrows down. Deadly or toxic species ruled out by an answer remain visible, along with the answer in question. Champi never makes conclusions for you: nearby pharmacies and mycological societies are just a click away to have your harvest checked, as is the Poison Control Center, at any time. A LIBRARY OF 209 SPECIES Detailed fact sheets: photos, French and Latin names, associated trees, habitat, season, and common look-alikes. Seasonal species in your area are highlighted.
