★★★★★ The game is very well remastered for mobile, which works perfectly for this game as it originally came out on the Nintendo DS.
★★★★★ It's just like playing the later versions of Layton (with the high quality and gameplay) but getting to replay a CLASSIC!

I can now understand why there are so many 5 star reviews for this game. After starting, I wondered where the story and gameplay would go. This game is a bit unlike any other adventure game I've played, and did not immediately impress. As we progressed, the story drew us in. In the end, this is absolutely one of the most endearing, interesting, and innovative stories and games we've played!

★★★★★Mar 10, 2026

A venerable classic of the puzzle-adventure genre, as good today as it was when it was first released almost 20 years ago. The only minor complaint is that it's a bit of a battery hog, but that's often unavoidable with these cross-platform ports. Nonetheless, a nicely polished up re-release of an old favorite. Fun story, good visuals, challenging puzzles, plus a touch of nostalgia if you remember the original. Well worth the money.

I played this game as a child on my Nintendo DS when it came out in 2007. I recently started thinking about the game again, did a search, and found they had it for mobile! Oh the nostalgia! So happy to have the game that got me so interested in puzzles that the love of them has lasted into adulthood!

★★★★★Feb 12, 2026

Played these when they were released on Nintendo DS back in the day and just happened to think to check if they'd ported them to mobile. So glad they have, it's been so long since I played them all the puzzles seem new. Hopefully they'll port the newer games without Layton as well

★★★★★Jan 25, 2026

I love the Layton series and have them all! awaiting the last in the series now!

★★★★★Jan 7, 2026

Store description

Digitally remastered in HD for mobile devices and with new, never-before-seen animated cutscenes, it’s time to run the cerebral marathon with Professor Layton and the Curious Village. The tale begins as Professor Layton, a true English gentleman and famous archeologist, drives to the remote settlement of St. Mystere with his apprentice, Luke, in response to a request from the widow of a wealthy baron. The baron’s will indicates that the family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden somewhere within the village, and whoever finds it will inherit the whole of the Reinhold Estate. The Professor and Luke must search the town for clues leading to the precious heirloom. Featuring a distinctive artistic style that oozes old-world charm, the game’s quirky cast of characters instantly comes to life. The animated cutscenes, remastered in HD, tell key parts of the tale in gorgeous detail. And ever-present in the background, the original soundtrack, beloved by many players, keenly captures the mood of the Layton universe. Based on the "Atama no Taisou" (lit. "Head Gymnastics") books by Akira Tago, Professor Layton and the Curious Village brings together more than 100 brain teasers including slide puzzles, matchstick puzzles, and even trick questions to flex players’ observation, logic, and critical thinking skills. In addition, rather than just selecting challenges from a list, players uncover puzzles through conversations with the villagers or by investigating their surroundings. If you are obsessed with mind-bending puzzles, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is for you! Game Features: • 1st installment of the Layton Series • Over 100 puzzles, designed by Akira Tago, that can be tackled on the way to solving the case • New! Exclusive, never-before-seen animation footage • Beautifully remastered in HD for mobile devices • Engaging mini-games that include collecting gizmos and pieces of a mysterious painting, as well as pursuing side characters • Offline play after initial download This game can be played in Englishand French only.
