HOW SURE ARE WE
Small app: combines its grossing ranks with ratings growth (367 new ratings a month on average since launch). Tested on 418 apps with verified revenue: typically off by about 2.4 times, so the range is wide. Countries we don't track (and Google Play in China, which doesn't exist) aren't included, and neither are ads or web payments. Gross revenue before store fees.

Promises a free trial but doesn't give you one.

The title says it all. They offered me a free trial and then charged me right away. I canceled within 30 minutes, but it's still showing that it's good for a year. If you're not sure you're going to like the app, you'd be better off looking for one that either has some free functionality or actually gives you a free trial. Update: Apple will not approve a refund since the in-app purchase used did not include a free trial, despite the promise of one. So don't start a subscription unless you're sure you want it. Update 2: Developer's response 4 months later does not include any suggestions that I haven't already tried, including contacting them. The only thing the developer did 4 months ago was tell me how to request a refund from Apple, which was denied because the in-app purchase did not actually include a trial despite the promise of one. So, my advice stands: don't assume you're going to get a free trial.

Warning: no free trial

The title says it all. They promise a 1-week free trial so that you can decide whether you want to subscribe, but the particular in-app purchase they use may not include the free trial, and if it doesn’t, Apple won’t refund it.
