Great game to play. Brings back memories!
Dreadfull after playing the game for only 7 minutes a pop up started asking me to claim victory even though bot had properties and cash there was plant of time left in the game.
Amazing game perfect for friend groups online
As much as I love the game of monopoly and Hasbro, this version is an absolute rubbish. For starters, the game has no sound at all. I tried all settings both on my iPhone and my iPad, still nothing. Secondly, the zooming animation effect is not necessary on the classic game. You can do whatever you want with the other versions, but not on the classic game. This game would be terrible if it was completely free, to now think I paid £4.99 for it is a joke!
I like to win always
I honestly don’t know where to start with how horrendous the mechanics of this game are. For a game that reportedly generates millions in revenue, the lack of basic features, fair gameplay and proper moderation is absolutely diabolical. Marmalade should be embarrassed by the state of this app. 1. Cheating and Teaming I recently witnessed players handing over all their money and properties to another player, completely destroying the balance of the game and effectively handing them the win. There are seemingly no safeguards to prevent this and no proper reporting system to deal with it. It ruins the experience for everyone who actually wants a fair game. Introduce a reporting system and investigate players who deliberately manipulate matches. 2. The Dice Feel Anything But Random The game claims the dice are random, but after playing enough, certain patterns can feel suspiciously predictable. When a game starts badly, it can feel like you keep rolling doubles, potentially sending you to jail, or repeatedly landing on Chance and Community Chest instead of getting opportunities to acquire properties. I cannot prove the dice are manipulated, but when players repeatedly feel as though outcomes are predetermined, it destroys trust in the game. Marmalade needs to provide greater confidence in the fairness of its system. 3. Terrible Matchmaking Matchmaking feels more level-based than skill-based. A high level does not necessarily mean someone is better; it can simply mean they have played for longer. Introduce proper skill-based matchmaking instead of putting less experienced players against people who have spent considerably more time playing. 4. Disconnections and Toxic Players When someone leaves a game, an AI should replace them. Instead, the game can freeze for ridiculous periods. I have waited over 30 minutes before eventually being kicked out due to supposed connection issues. Games can already take an hour, and nobody should have to waste their time because the system cannot handle a disconnected player. On top of that, players can drag out games by waiting until their timer is nearly finished before initiating trades, potentially extending it further. Introduce better safeguards against AFK players and deliberate time-wasting. 5. The XP System Punishes Spectators If you go bankrupt, you can leave immediately and receive your XP. However, if you choose to spectate and later decide to leave before the match finishes, you lose your XP unless you stay until the very end. Why should players be punished for changing their minds? If someone has already been eliminated, let them leave spectating whenever they want without forfeiting their XP. 6. Limited Chat and No Levelling Rewards The chat options are practically useless. I understand restricting communication to reduce toxicity, but there should be better preset messages. There are also no meaningful rewards for levelling up, leaving little incentive to progress. For a game reportedly generating substantial revenue, these basic features should be much better. What Needs to Change? * Proper reporting and action against cheating and suspected collusion. * Safeguards against players transferring everything to manipulate a match. * Skill-based matchmaking. * Automatic AI replacement for disconnected players. * Better controls for AFK behaviour and time-wasting. * Fair XP rules for eliminated players who choose to spectate. * Improved chat options and meaningful levelling rewards. * Greater transparency around the dice system. Final Verdict Monopoly is a brilliant game with enormous potential, but this app is let down by suspected teaming, frustrating matchmaking, questionable-feeling dice outcomes, poor connection handling and mechanics that waste players’ time. Nobody expects to win every game. Losing is part of Monopoly. What players should not have to tolerate is a platform that feels unfair, allows obvious loopholes to be exploited and makes playing more frustrating than enjoyable. The annual revenue figure of $12,689,112 is one I have seen quoted, although I have not independently verified it. If accurate, it makes the lack of attention to these fundamental problems even harder to understand. Marmalade, stop prioritising monetisation over your players. Fix the game, introduce proper safeguards and start delivering the experience people deserve. To everyone involved in developing and managing this app: you should be embarrassed to be a part of it. The game has so much potential, yet the basic mechanics and lack of safeguards let it down so badly. Sort it out and start respecting the people who play your game.
